Five Killed and Dozens Injured in Ukrainian Attacks on Russia’s Belgorod Region

Five people were killed, and 37 others were injured in a series of Ukrainian airstrikes on Russia’s Belgorod region, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. The attacks targeted the city of Belgorod and nearby areas, using “Vampir” multiple-launch rocket systems with cluster munitions. Among the casualties were a woman and four men, while six children were among those injured. The strikes caused significant property damage, including shattered windows and damaged facades in residential and commercial buildings. Fires were also reported in the village of Dubovoe, south of Belgorod, where homes, vehicles, and a garage were set ablaze.

The assault followed another deadly attack in the Belgorod region the previous week, where five people were killed, and 12 others were injured in the village of Rakitnoye. These incidents are part of a broader escalation in border clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces. Over 30 settlements in Belgorod were reportedly attacked within 24 hours, prompting Russia to declare a federal-level state of emergency in the region. The Russian Defense Ministry reported ongoing efforts to repel Ukrainian advances, claiming significant losses on the Ukrainian side, including over 360 servicemen and 29 armored vehicles.
