CM Shinde Inaugurates Various Projects and Conducts Bhoomi Pujan in Thane Municipal Area
Thane : Today marks a historic day, as Chief Minister Eknath Shinde laid the foundation stone for the Samaj Bhawan in Kasar Wadvali, a unique project that will house 12 community centers from different states in a single building—a first of its kind.
Chief Minister Shinde inaugurated several projects and conducted Bhoomi Pujan in the Thane Municipal Area, accompanied by Ovala-Majiwada MLA Pratap Sarnaik.
Present at the event were MP Naresh Mhaske, MLA Pratap Sarnaik, former MLA Ravindra Phatak, former mayor Ashok Vaiti, senior former corporator Ram Repale, Parisha Sarnaik, Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Collector Ashok Shingare, and other dignitaries.
Nagla Bandar now boasts the largest chowpatty in the area, surrounded by mountains, bays, and urban forests—a rare combination for coastal regions. This extensive facility, designed for stress relief and entertainment, was inaugurated today.
Additionally, the Bhoomi Pujan for a project to create a replica of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s armor was conducted. The community also performed Bhoomi Pujan for the Samaj Bhawan, marking significant development milestones in Thane.
Chief Minister Shinde emphasized that Thane is rapidly evolving, citing the influence of leaders like Dharamveer Anand Dighe and Balasaheb Thackeray. He praised the efforts to meet the goal of planting one lakh trees under the “Chief Minister’s Green Thane” campaign.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the internal metro for Thane, which will significantly benefit the region. Projects like the expansion of Ghodbunder Road, the Gaymukh to Fountain subway, and the Thane-Borivali subway are underway, promising to ease traffic congestion.
MP Naresh Mhaske highlighted that Thane’s development has reached new heights, attributing it to the support and funding from Chief Minister Shinde, whom he described as a “Dildar Chief Minister.”
MLA Pratap Sarnaik expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Shinde for fulfilling the promise of the Samaj Bhawan, which will serve 12 different communities.
Before the Bhoomi Pujan, Chief Minister Shinde inaugurated the Hindu Hridayasamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Chowpatty at Gaymukh – Phase 2. He also inaugurated a project for a replica of an armor center at Nagla Bandar.
The event also saw the inauguration of various redevelopment projects, including the resettlement of existing settlements in Vartaknagar Ward, and the Chintamanrao Deshmukh Administrative Training Center and Hostel at Vasant Vihar.
Gymnastics demonstrations by international athletes Pooja and Mansi Surve were also presented, with Chief Minister Shinde expressing confidence that these centers would produce international-level athletes.

- Hindu Hrudayasmrat Shiv Sena Pramukh Balasaheb Thackeray Chowpatty, Gaymukh – Phase 2
In collaboration with the Central and State Governments, Thane Municipal Corporation, and Thane Smart City Ltd., the Shiv Sena Chief Balasaheb Thackeray Chowpatty at Gaymukh Phase 2, located at Nagla Bandar Bay, has been developed. This chowpatty, which spans approximately 800 meters, includes facilities such as a jetty, Ganesh Visarjan Ghat, Dashakriya Vidhi Ghat, creek-side pedestrian walkway, roadside walkway, Miyawaki Park, seating arrangements, an amphitheater, vehicle parking, toilets, electric lighting, and CCTV. The project cost is approximately ₹45 crores.
- Dr. Sindhutai Sapkal Archery Centre
The Thane Municipal Corporation has constructed the Dr. Sindhutai Sapkal Archery Training Center on a reserved plot of the Vartaknagar playground using Transfer of Development Rights (TDR). This center offers facilities for international standard archery training. The project cost is approximately ₹4.5 crores.
Bhoomipujan
- As part of the ‘Development Scheme for Basic Facilities in the Municipal Area’, a replica of the Armar Center will be constructed by developing the bay shore at Nagla Bandar. The estimated cost for this project is around ₹150 crores.
- The existing rehabilitated settlements on three facility plots, namely Samata Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, and Siddhivinayak Nagar in the Vartaknagar Ward Committee area, will be redeveloped through public-private partnership. A total of 353 slum dwellers will be rehabilitated across six buildings. Additionally, facilities such as a Nana-Nani Park, a children’s play area, and a parking system will be provided. The estimated cost for this redevelopment is around ₹150 crores.
- The Chintamanrao Deshmukh Administrative Training Center and Hostel will be constructed at Vasant Vihar, with an expected expenditure of ₹25 crores.
- A multi-purpose building named after Sudhakar Vaman Chavan will be constructed on a reserved plot at Shivainagar, with an expected expenditure of ₹25 crores.
- Various society buildings will be constructed on facility plots at Kasarvadvali, with an expected expenditure of ₹11 crores.
