Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas Visits Amer Fort, Reviews Conservation and Tourism Facilities

Jaipur, May 2026 : Rajasthan Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas visited Amer Fort on Sunday to review tourism facilities, conservation works, and ongoing development projects at the historic monument. Secretary Tourism, Art & Culture, and Archaeology, Smt. Shuchi Tyagi, was also present during the visit.

The Chief Secretary first offered prayers at the revered Shila Mata temple, the presiding deity of Amer. He later inspected various sections of Amer Fort and reviewed tourism-related arrangements and conservation activities being undertaken at the heritage site.

During the inspection, officials informed him that around 22.82 lakh tourists visited Amer Fort in the past year, including nearly 2.70 lakh foreign tourists. On average, about 6,270 tourists visit the monument daily. Taking note of the large tourist footfall, the Chief Secretary sought details regarding difficulties faced by visitors and directed officials to take positive steps to further increase tourist arrivals.

He instructed authorities to fully develop and streamline parking facilities and improve roads leading to Amer Fort. He also directed officials to strengthen basic amenities such as toilets and other public facilities for tourists.

The Chief Secretary reviewed works worth Rs 25.5 crore being executed under the SASCI centrally sponsored scheme. These projects include development of parking facilities on vacant land near Pariyon Ka Bagh, road development from Khedi Gate to Pitaliya Bhavan near the ancient Amer Fort area, restoration work at Bharmal Ki Chhatriyan, and several other heritage-related projects.

He also inspected restoration works worth Rs 4.02 crore being carried out at Man Singh Mahal under budget announcements and expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of the ongoing work.

During his visit to Man Singh Mahal, the Chief Secretary closely examined the conservation work and appreciated the restoration of the decorative battlements removed during the process. He also reviewed the preservation work related to wall paintings located on the brackets of the balconies in Man Singh Mahal and issued necessary directions to officials.

He praised the agreement signed between IGNCA and ADMA for the conservation of wall paintings located at Singh Pol, Ganesh Pol, Bhojanshala, and other sections of Amer Fort.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed the proposed site for the digital museum to be developed under budget announcements and issued necessary instructions regarding the project.

He directed the Tourism Department to provide additional training to tourist guides so that accurate and factual information can be shared with visitors coming to Jaipur from across the world.

Tourist guide Mahesh Sharma accompanied the Chief Secretary during the fort visit and explained various architectural and historical aspects of the monument. While inspecting the Sheesh Mahal, the Chief Secretary was deeply impressed by its architecture and directed officials to ensure utmost care in its conservation while preserving its original character and heritage value.

During the visit, Director of Archaeology and Museums Pankaj Dharendra, Joint Director Tourism Rajesh Sharma, Superintendent of Amer Fort Rakesh Chholak, Executive Director (Works) of Amer Development and Management Authority, along with their teams, were also present.
