Statewide Surprise Inspection at Petrol Pumps in Rajasthan: 43 Nozzles Sealed Over Fuel Quantity Fraud

Jaipur, May 2026 : A sudden inspection drive conducted by the Consumer Affairs Department across Rajasthan has exposed large-scale fraud at several petrol pumps, where common consumers were allegedly being cheated in fuel delivery.

During intensive checks carried out in seven districts, officials seized or shut down a total of 43 faulty nozzles across 25 petrol pumps. The investigation revealed that several fuel stations were delivering 30 to 60 millilitres less fuel per 5 litres of dispensing. Given the high volume of daily sales, this shortfall was causing losses worth lakhs of rupees to consumers every month.

In Sirohi district, nine nozzles at seven petrol pumps were sealed. Irregularities were found at Rampir Filling Station, Pawan Filling, Karni Fuel, Devanagari Petroleum Service, Parvati Dariya Filling Station, Surendra Jitendra Traders and Bhagwati Filling Station, where short delivery ranged between 40 to 50 ml per 5 litres. Officials estimated that consumers were being short-changed by 90 to 360 litres per month, leading to an estimated loss of around ₹1.14 lakh.

In Alwar district, five nozzles at Singhal Service Station and Chaudhary Service Station were shut down. At Singhal Service Station, a shortfall of 30 to 60 ml per 5 litres was recorded, translating into nearly 648 litres of under-delivery per month. The total estimated loss in the district exceeded ₹91,000.

In Nagaur, 11 nozzles at four petrol pumps were seized. The irregularities were found at Nandlal Rajesh Kumar Kachwaha Filling Station, Gulabdas Atmaram, Marwar Filling Station and R L Sihag Petroleum. The shortage ranged from 54 to 378 litres per month, with an estimated financial impact of around ₹97,000.

In Bhilwara, four nozzles at three petrol pumps were sealed, including Deepak Petroleum, Shiv Indian Oil and Shri Shyam Filling Station. These outlets were found delivering 34 to 90 litres less fuel per month.

In Sikar, four nozzles at CSRB Filling Station (Nayara) were sealed after authorities detected a monthly shortfall of up to 216 litres.

In Pali district, five nozzles were shut down at MAIG Filling, Pooja HP Petroleum, Parshva Energy and Kachwa Bus Services. The shortage ranged between 45 to 180 litres per month, causing an estimated consumer loss of over ₹55,000.

According to departmental assessment, in the identified cases alone, consumers were being overcharged by nearly ₹4 lakh every month due to fuel discrepancies.

Consumer Affairs Minister Sumit Godara said the department is fully committed to protecting consumer rights and such surprise inspections will continue in the future. He added that these enforcement actions are directly benefiting consumers while also increasing accountability among petrol pump operators.

He further warned that strict action will be taken against those indulging in fraudulent practices, stating clearly that no irregularity at any level will be tolerated.
