KTR Demands Dismissal of Union MoS Bandi Sanjay Over POCSO Case, Calls for Fair Probe in Bhageerath Case

Hyderabad, May 2026 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday demanded the immediate dismissal of Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, insisting that such a step is necessary to ensure a fair, impartial and transparent investigation into the POCSO case involving his son, Bandi Bhageerath.

Speaking at a party event held at LB Nagar in Hyderabad, a day after Bhageerath was arrested and sent to judicial remand, KTR launched a sharp attack on the Union government, questioning the credibility of slogans such as “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” if justice is not ensured in sensitive cases involving influential individuals.

He said that for perhaps the first time in the country, a situation has emerged where a lookout notice had to be issued against the son of a sitting Union Minister, calling it a matter of grave concern for democratic accountability and rule of law.

KTR further questioned how the accused remained untraceable for nearly nine days, asking who was shielding him during that period and under what influence such protection was allegedly provided. He claimed that the situation raises serious doubts about the fairness of the ongoing investigation.

Stating that an impartial probe cannot be expected while Bandi Sanjay continues in office, KTR demanded his immediate removal from the Union Cabinet. He alleged that allowing a person whose family member is facing serious allegations involving a minor to remain in a constitutional position undermines public trust in institutions.

The BRS leader also alleged that the victim’s family faced intimidation and pressure. He accused Bandi Sanjay of personally threatening and harassing the victim’s parents and said such actions, if proven, reflect misuse of political power.

KTR also accused Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of attempting to dilute the seriousness of the case. He alleged that leaders of both the BJP and Congress were indirectly working together to weaken the case by labeling it a “honey trap” and influencing sections of the media to underreport the issue.

Warning of wider social consequences, KTR said that if powerful individuals are allowed to escape accountability, it would discourage victims—especially women and minors—from reporting abuse in future cases. He said such a precedent would send a “dangerous message” that the influential are above the law.

Reiterating his demand, KTR insisted that Bandi Sanjay must be removed from the Union Cabinet immediately to ensure a free and fair investigation.

He also praised the courage of the victim’s family, particularly the mother, for standing firm despite alleged threats and pressure. According to him, the family resisted attempts from both state and central level influence to suppress the matter.

Calling their struggle “historic and courageous,” KTR said their determination to seek justice deserved strong support from society.

He also lauded the efforts of the BRS women’s wing, student groups, activists and social media campaigners who consistently raised the issue. He noted that women leaders of the party staged protests across Telangana, approached the State Women’s Commission, the Director General of Police, and even demonstrated at the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar demanding justice.

Senior BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar was also appreciated by KTR for actively supporting the victim’s family and raising the issue forcefully in public forums.
