Criminals Rattled by Rajasthan Police’s Intensive Checkpoint Drive; Over 47,000 Vehicles Inspected at 810 Checkpoints

—11,504 MV Act Cases Registered and 274 Accused Arrested During Two-Day Mega Campaign—
Major Action Also Taken Against Illegal Weapons, Liquor and Narcotics

Jaipur, May 2026 : A two-day intensive checkpoint drive conducted across Rajasthan by the Rajasthan Police on the directions of Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma created panic among criminals, traffic violators, and anti-social elements. During the special campaign, police set up 810 checkpoints across the state and inspected more than 47,000 vehicles, while 274 offenders were arrested under various charges.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) V.K. Singh said that intensive checking operations were carried out on all major routes under Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota ranges from 7 PM to 10 PM on Saturday, May 16, while similar operations were conducted in the Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Jaipur ranges from 3 AM to 6 AM on Sunday, May 17.

Under the campaign, police conducted extensive checks on two-wheelers and four-wheelers and took strict action against traffic rule violators. According to police records, a total of 24,573 two-wheelers and 22,531 four-wheelers were inspected across the state.

More Than 11,000 MV Act Actions

During the checkpoint drive, police initiated large-scale action against drunk driving, riding without helmets, driving without seat belts, using mobile phones while driving, vehicles with fake or missing number plates, and vehicles with black films on windows. In total, 11,504 cases were registered under the Motor Vehicles Act.

These included action against 757 drunk drivers, 1,667 riders without helmets, 1,484 drivers without seat belts, 191 drivers caught talking on mobile phones while driving, 1,438 suspicious or number-plate-less vehicles, and 1,017 vehicles with black films.

Udaipur and Ajmer Ranges Lead the Drive

The Udaipur Range emerged as the most active during the campaign with 2,647 MV Act cases registered, followed closely by the Ajmer Range with 2,576 cases. Jaipur Range recorded 1,795 actions, Kota 1,768, Bharatpur 1,735, Jodhpur 968, and Bikaner 15 cases against traffic violators.

274 Arrested

In the second phase of the operation, police launched a special crackdown against criminals, smugglers, and anti-social elements, resulting in the arrest of 274 persons.

During the drive, 12 cases were registered under the Arms Act, 41 under the Excise Act, 10 under the NDPS Act, and 62 cases under other special and local laws.

Out of those arrested, 73 criminals were held in connection with various FIRs and cases, while 201 persons were detained under preventive action provisions of the BNSS.

Weapons, Liquor, and Vehicles Seized

Police also seized illegal weapons, liquor, and suspicious vehicles during the operation. In the Kota Range, police confiscated five sharp-edged weapons, 120 pouches of country liquor, and two litres of illicit liquor. Additionally, 27 vehicles were seized.

In Bharatpur Range, police recovered five litres of illegal liquor and impounded 61 suspicious vehicles under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

ADG V.K. Singh said that such joint operations would continue in the future to ensure effective control over crime, improve road safety, and curb suspicious activities.
