Community Health Camps Organized in Coordination with DCM Fadnavis’ Medical Aid Cell Targeting Health Screenings for Approximately 4 Million Citizens Across 25,000 Camps

Mumbai : Community health camps are being organized statewide under the coordination of the State-Level Special Medical Aid Unit from the office of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. These camps will run from September 1 to October 31, 2024. The initiative, conceptualized by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, aims to provide universal health services across Maharashtra.

The Medical Education Department, Public Health Department, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Niramay Seva Foundation, and charitable hospitals are supporting the organization of these camps. Various charitable organizations (NGOs), medical associations, government medical colleges and hospitals, the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and its affiliated private medical colleges, social work students, and public representatives will participate in these social health camps.

Today, the social health camps were launched on a pilot basis in Ghatkopar, with additional camps organized in Jalgaon and Chandrapur districts. At these camps, citizens will undergo health screenings, blood tests, ECG tests, and will receive Ayushman Bharat (Abha Card) scheme cards and essential medicines. If a disease is diagnosed, patients will be coordinated for treatment through government health schemes. Additionally, information about various government health schemes will be provided.

Diagnosed patients requiring surgery or further treatment will receive free care coordinated through the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and other government programs. All examinations in the camps will be provided free of charge. The camps will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with each camp aiming to examine 100 to 250 citizens. The overall goal is to conduct approximately 25,000 camps and screen around 4 million citizens.

Patients diagnosed during these camps will receive free treatment as needed through charitable hospitals, government medical colleges and hospitals, and various government schemes. The camps will be held in public locations such as schools, community temples near Dalit settlements, tribal areas, and nomadic tribe settlements. Around 1,500 hospitals are expected to participate in the initiative, according to information provided by the Deputy Chief Minister’s Medical Aid Cell.
