Effectively Implement the ‘PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Mahabhiyan’ for the Overall Development of Tribal Society – DC Dr. Nidhi Pandey
Amravati : To provide basic and personal facilities to citizens of tribal groups and primitive tribes living in remote areas of the state and the union territories, the ‘Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Mahabhiyan’ scheme has been launched. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Nidhi Pandey directed that this scheme be effectively implemented for the all-round development of tribal groups and primitive tribes through educational, social, and economic upliftment. Dr. Pandey briefed the concerned department and district administration on this matter today.
In a meeting held on Monday (September 2) at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office auditorium, Dr. Pandey reviewed the scheme with officials from the Tribal Development Department. Present were Additional Commissioner of Tribal Development Jitendra Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Sanjay Pawar, Deputy Commissioner (Planning) Rajeev Phadke, and Senior Research Officer Priti Telkhade.
Dr. Pandey noted that the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Mahabhiyan was launched by the Prime Minister on November 15, 2023, Tribal Pride Day, in Khunti district, Jharkhand. The scheme aims to provide infrastructural and personal facilities to citizens of rare and backward tribal groups and primitive tribes to improve their education, social, and economic conditions, and to provide comprehensive health facilities. The central government has allocated about 24,000 crore rupees for the effective implementation of this scheme. Eleven priority areas have been identified by nine ministries to achieve the development objectives for 75 tribal groups in 18 states, including union and state territories. To raise awareness about this scheme among the tribal communities, a broad public awareness campaign should be conducted in all districts of the division. Dr. Pandey emphasized that the scheme should reach poor and needy tribal people, providing them with various benefits.
Dr. Pandey also pointed out that although various certificates are distributed to tribals by the district administration, inconsistent statistics are submitted to the Commissionerate. The district administration should address this issue, review all related systems, and report the exact number of certificates distributed to the government and Commissionerate. Departments providing services under the PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Mahabhiyan should appoint nodal officers for better coordination. A national-level mega event under the scheme will be held, and approval for the location should be sought from the Guardian Minister. Additionally, various activities and camps should be organized to generate widespread public awareness. The administrations of Amravati and Yavatmal districts should periodically review the scheme’s implementation and make concerted efforts to ensure its success, Dr. Pandey advised.
In the Amravati division, areas such as Dharani in Amravati district, Pandharkawda and Pusad in Yavatmal district, and Kinwat in Nanded district are inhabited by the Kolam primitive tribe, comprising 28,556 families with a population of 124,490. The project includes 631 primitive villages in Pandharkawda taluka, 34 in Pusad taluka, 25 in Kinwat, and 3 in Dharani. Collective facilities such as health services, roads, concrete houses, clean water supply, Anganwadi centers, electricity, mobile connectivity, and multi-purpose centers will be provided to these communities through nine departments. Various certificates, including ration cards, caste certificates, Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, Jan Dhan cards, Ayushman cards, and Kisan credit cards, will be distributed promptly. Under the PVTG campaign, Kolam villages are being surveyed to collect information. The status of forest center approvals, certificates and cards, activities, infrastructure construction, health centers, Anganwadis, and schools will be reviewed. Additional Commissioner Jitendra Chaudhary provided detailed information during the meeting, and a discussion was held accordingly.
