Efforts to Make Madhya Pradesh Milk Capital are Yielding Results: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that efforts to make Madhya Pradesh the ‘Milk Capital’ are beginning to yield positive results. He said that through coordinated efforts, Madhya Pradesh is preparing to make a major leap in milk production, and this achievement must continue to grow steadily.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed the Animal Husbandry Department at the Mantralaya on Thursday. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Shri Lakhan Patel, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, and senior officials were present during the review meeting.
It was informed during the meeting that the state has achieved an average daily milk procurement of 9.67 lakh kilograms, which is 11 per cent higher than last year. During the past six months, average daily milk procurement exceeded 11 lakh kilograms. Dairy unions have made payments to milk-producing farmers that are over 15 per cent higher compared to the previous year.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed in detail efforts related to increasing milk production in the state, the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana, Acharya Vidyasagar Cow Conservation Scheme, Chief Minister Dairy Plus Programme, better healthcare for livestock, fodder production and availability, animal nutrition, establishment of self-reliant gaushalas, Ksheerdhara Gram Yojana, breeder associations, Dugdh Samriddhi Sampark Abhiyan, the Goras App, activities of the State Cooperative Dairy Federation and support being provided by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
Madhya Pradesh Ranks Third Nationally, Target Is to Reach First Position
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh currently ranks third in the country. He stated that the state’s goal is to achieve the top position, and the initiatives undertaken in this direction are yielding encouraging results. The Chief Minister informed that 1,752 new dairy cooperative societies have been formed in the state. Significant initiatives have been undertaken for the modernisation of the Gwalior Dairy Plant, revival of the Shivpuri Dairy Plant, and establishment of a milk powder plant with a daily processing capacity of 3 lakh litres in Indore.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that these efforts have certainly helped the state move towards becoming a leader in milk production and marketing, and such efforts should continue.
Rs 1,609 Crore Paid to Milk Producers Last Year
Under the guidance of the National Dairy Development Board, efforts being made to bring about a White Revolution in the state have resulted in higher payments to milk producers. While Rs 1,398 crore was paid to milk producers in 2024-25, the amount increased to Rs 1,609 crore in 2025-26, registering an increase of over 15 per cent compared to the previous year.
To ensure timely payments to milk producers, a system has been adopted under which procurement prices in various dairy unions have been increased by Rs 2.50 to Rs 8.50 per litre. The rise in farmers’ income is contributing to greater prosperity in their lives.
Success Achieved in Strengthening the Sanchi Brand
Under initiatives for marketing and brand strengthening, the Sanchi brand has gained greater popularity and sales of various products have increased significantly.
Among value-added products, sales of ghee have increased by 17 per cent. Sales of paneer, curd, buttermilk, and flavoured milk have also registered growth. Efforts have also been undertaken to improve packaging and branding.
Principal Secretary Shri Umakant Umrao and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
