Tailoring Training Opens the Path to Self-Reliance; Successful Home-Based Enterprise Established

Raipur, July 2026: The Chief Minister’s Skill Development Scheme, implemented by the Chhattisgarh Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, is emerging as a powerful initiative to equip young people with marketable skills, employment opportunities, and self-reliance. Through the scheme, youth receive free training in various job-oriented trades, enabling them to pursue employment or establish their own businesses. One such beneficiary is Mrs. Neelima Devangan of Mohla village in the Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district, who has transformed her life through tailoring training and is now successfully running a home-based business.

Training Brought a New Perspective to Life

Mrs. Neelima Devangan underwent training in the Tailoring Trade under the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Scheme at the District Project Livelihood College, Mohla. She said she learned about the programme through her friends. After completing the necessary formalities, she enrolled in the course and pursued the training with dedication.

During the programme, she received practical and technical instruction in modern tailoring and embroidery techniques, sewing machine operation, garment cutting and stitching, and other aspects of the tailoring business. Guidance from expert trainers not only enhanced her technical skills but also significantly boosted her confidence.

Skill Became the Foundation of Her Livelihood

After completing the training, Neelima chose not to wait for a job opportunity and instead decided to start her own business. She began offering tailoring services from her home and now stitches a variety of garments for women and children.

Within the very first month of launching her enterprise, she started earning a regular monthly income of around ₹5,000 to ₹6,000. This income has played an important role in meeting her family’s financial needs and has brought a positive change to their standard of living.

Growing Confidence Through Self-Reliance

Neelima said the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Scheme provided her with much more than a vocational skill—it gave her the confidence to stand on her own feet. Today, she is contributing to her family’s income with dignity and hopes to expand her business in the future by creating employment opportunities for other women as well.

Mrs. Neelima Devangan credited her success to the Skill Development Department, the District Project Livelihood College, Mohla, and the district administration. She expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, saying that the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Scheme is becoming a strong foundation for employment, self-reliance, and a dignified life for rural youth. According to her, the initiative not only equips young people with valuable skills but also instils the confidence needed to realise their dreams and build a brighter future.
