Promote Organic Farming in Tribal Areas: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that organic farming should be promoted in the tribal regions. He noted that tribal farmers in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh are also practising organic farming and directed that a study team from Madhya Pradesh be sent there to study the model. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav chaired a review meeting of the Tribal Affairs Department on Thursday.
Tribal Affairs Minister Dr. Vijay Shah, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shri Manish Rastogi, Principal Secretary Tribal Affairs Shri Gulshan Bamra and other officials were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that the quality of education and living conditions in schools, ashrams, and hostels operated by the Tribal Affairs Department should be improved. He said that support from social organisations should also be taken for the preservation of traditional social values and the holistic development of tribal areas. He further directed that various government departments should work in coordination in tribal regions and ensure the development of public facilities through convergence. The Chief Minister also called for the promotion of animal husbandry in tribal communities and greater participation of tribal families in increasing milk production.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav instructed officials to continue sustained efforts for the holistic development of the state’s Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs),
including the Baiga, Bharia, and Saharia communities. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also directed the department to undertake necessary measures to improve the quality of education. It was informed during the meeting that seven tribal districts were among the top 10 districts in the High School and Higher Secondary Examination Results 2026.
It was informed during review that since December 2023, scholarships amounting to Rs 137.52 crore have been distributed to 3 lakh 65 thousand tribal students of Classes 9 and 10. During the same period, under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, Rs 673.64 crore has been disbursed to 4 lakh 28 thousand students.
The department is currently operating 2,671 hostels and ashram schools across the state.
Minister Dr. Vijay Shah informed that under the government’s Aahar Anudan Yojana, financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per month is being deposited into the bank accounts of women heads of families belonging to the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. Since December 2023, a total amount of Rs 432 crore has been provided to 2 lakh 37 thousand 550 women under the scheme.
