Chief Minister Emphasises the Need to Expand Natural Farming for Aatmanirbharta in the Present Global Scenario
Gandhinagar, June 2026: Governor Shri Acharya Devvratji emphasised strengthening the marketing system for natural farming produce. He stated that within one month, 5 new permanent natural farming sales centres should be established at the Municipal Corporation level, 3 at the district level and 1 at the taluka level for the sale of products grown by farmers practising natural farming in the state.
Today, excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides is making our soil, water and food toxic. We must revive Mother Earth. Natural farming is not merely a method of cultivation, but a campaign to save Mother Earth and protect future generations from serious diseases such as cancer.
The Governor also provided guidance on saving electricity and fuel. He stated that through the efforts undertaken at Gujarat Lok Bhavan, changes in the timings for switching street lights on and off across the state have resulted in electricity savings of more than ₹25 crore. He said that street lights should be switched off 35 minutes before sunrise and switched on 35 minutes after sunset.
The Governor said that the prudent use of the nation’s valuable resources is the moral responsibility of every citizen and government system. He directed all senior officials present to create public awareness regarding energy conservation and fuel savings within their areas of responsibility and to set an ideal example through their own actions.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel requested the administrative heads of districts and municipal corporations participating in the video conference to support this campaign in mission mode with the objective of bringing 100 percent of farmers towards natural farming. He added that the mission can be accomplished by scientifically explaining the importance and benefits of natural farming to farmers.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had envisioned the importance of natural farming well in advance and called for its large-scale adoption to promote the health and well-being of humanity. He further noted that Governor Shri Acharya Devvratji has been personally visiting villages, interacting directly with farmers and visiting their fields, thereby connecting more and more farmers to this people’s movement for natural farming.
He urged District Collectors, District Development Officers and Municipal Commissioners to embrace natural farming as a personal mission. He said that by leading through example and actively promoting the practice, they can inspire large numbers of people to adopt natural farming and effectively fulfil their commitment to public service.
Agriculture Minister Shri Jitubhai Vaghani, while expressing gratitude to the Governor for inspiring the organisation of this interactive session, stated that natural farming is the need of the hour. He said that through this video conference, district administrative heads would receive invaluable guidance from the Governor, who serves as a brand ambassador of natural farming.
He also appreciated the continuous support extended by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel for establishing sales centres for natural farming produce. He noted that the excessive use of chemical fertilisers has adversely affected both soil fertility and human health, and emphasised that natural farming offers a sustainable and effective solution to these challenges.
He also appealed to these senior district officials to experiment with natural farming in the open spaces available at their residences.
This video conference was also attended by Minister of State for Agriculture Shri Ramesh Katara, Chief Secretary Shri M.K. Das, Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department Shri R.C. Meena, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Vikrant Pandey, along with senior officers of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department and the Directorate of Agriculture.
