MCD took demolition action against 82 properties and sealed 43 properties across all zones within its jurisdiction since 1st June
MCD takes decisive demolition and sealing action against unauthorised constructions in South Zone
MCD also issued more than 150 notices and demolition order and property owners for misuse of property and violation of building bylaws across all zones
New Delhi, June, 2026 : Taking stern action as per directions of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sh Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Delhi Chief Minister Smt Rekha Gupta, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has cracked down on unauthorized construction across all municipal zones of Delhi since June 1.
As many as 82 properties were demolished and 43 properties were sealed as part of city wide extensive drive against unauthorized construction from June 1.
The sealing and demolition drive was conducted by teams of the MCD, assisted by the Delhi Police. MCD teams deployed bulldozers to remove illegal structures and sealed properties operating in violation of building norms.
MCD conducted demolition action against 12 properties for violating building bylaws in South Zone since June 1. Further 14 properties in South Zone were sealed during this drive. Demolition action was carried out against 7 properties in Civil Lines Zone, while 8 illegal properties were demolished in Narela Zone since June 1.
Demolition and Sealing action in South zone
A massive drive has been launched by the South Zone to control and curtail the menace of unauthorized construction and misuse in different areas. An extensive sealing and demolition action was undertaken by MCD in several areas of South Delhi.
MCD identified over 12 bed-and-breakfast (B&B) Guest Houses operating in violation of building bye-laws in Hauz Rani during a joint survey by MCD and other agencies. As many as 32 properties in Said-ul-Azaib and 9 properties in Khirki extension were also identified for operating in violation of norms during the survey.
In an extensive drive held today, 5 B&B Guest Houses were sealed in Hauz Rani during the drive against unauthorised construction. These guest houses include Green Residency, Venue Inn and Mikasa inn.
Also, one properties was demolished and sealed in Khirki Extension. MCD teams took sealing and demolition action against 8 properties in Said-ul- Azaib in Saket.
Further demolition and sealing drives are being planned for upcoming days against 32 properties in Said-ul- Azaib and 09 properties in Khirki extension. To ensure that the issue remains well under effective monitoring and control, the areas are kept under constant vigil to identify any unauthorized construction and B&B Guest Houses flouting the regulations.
The perpetuity of any illegal construction or such activity is certainly going to be punished sternly by the MCD. In the days to follow, the demolition and sealing actions would become more stronger with stringent measures.
In Savitri Nagar, Sainik Farm and Khanpur areas, demolition and sealing action was undertaken against 3 properties. Also, 3 basements were sealed for running library in violation of law in Gautam Nagar.
MCD also issued more than 150 unauthorized construction notices, sealing notices and demolition order to properties for misuse of property and violation of building bylaws in all the zones.Additionally, MCD is also conducting a survey to identify illegal commercial and residential properties violating building by- laws across all zones.
The general public is also advised in their own interest not to indulge in such unauthorized construction or illegal activities, which are against the provisions of DMC Act-1957, Master Plan-2021 and Unified Building Bye-Laws-2016, keeping in view the repercussion of such acts i.e. demolition and sealing action by the M.C.D.
MCD will continue to take strict action against properties violating building bylaw. MCD is committed to enforcing building by laws strictly and ensuring the safety and security of students and citizens.
