Lucknow, June 2026 : The Uttar Pradesh government’s initiatives and its strong commitment to effective implementation are set to receive national recognition. A testament to this is the Gold Award that will be conferred upon Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025 under the National e-Governance Awards 2026.
The Mahakumbh 2025 held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has added yet another significant achievement to its record.
Under the National e-Governance Awards 2026 announced by the Government of India, the Mahakumbh 2025 project has been recognized among the country’s best e-governance innovations.
The project, implemented by the Prayagraj Mela Authority, has been selected for this prestigious award, further enhancing the national stature and pride of both Uttar Pradesh and Prayagraj.
The National e-Governance Awards, presented annually by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India, aim to honor projects that make public services more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric through the use of digital technology.
For the year 2026, a total of 17 projects and initiatives across seven different categories have been selected, with Mahakumbh 2025 among the distinguished awardees.
The recognition of Mahakumbh 2025 reflects the Uttar Pradesh Government’s success in integrating modern technology with the world’s largest spiritual and cultural congregation.
Digital technology was extensively deployed to manage the arrival of millions of devotees, security arrangements, traffic management, digital information services, surveillance systems, and various public amenities.
This effective use of technology enabled Mahakumbh 2025 to earn special recognition at the national level.
The list of award-winning initiatives includes several notable projects such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare’s Agri Stack, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs’ e-Jagriti, the Ministry of Health’s e-Sanjeevani AI-based Clinical Decision Support System, Bank of Baroda’s Integrated Cyber Security Framework, and the Cyber Security Project of ISRO’s Space Applications Centre.
Among these prestigious initiatives, the selection of Mahakumbh 2025 is being regarded as a significant achievement for Uttar Pradesh.
The successful digital management of Mahakumbh 2025 has established a new benchmark for organizing large-scale events.
Efforts to enhance convenience, safety, and access to information for devotees through technology have received widespread appreciation at the national level.
The Central Government has announced 10 Gold Awards, 6 Silver Awards, and 1 Jury Award this year. Award recipients will be presented with a trophy, a certificate of excellence, and a financial incentive.
Institutions receiving the Gold Award will be granted ₹10 lakh, while Silver Award winners will receive ₹5 lakh. The incentive amount will be utilized to expand public welfare projects and address resource gaps.
The formal award ceremony for the National e-Governance Awards 2026 will be held during the 29th National e-Governance Conference in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan.
The event will honor outstanding digital governance projects from across the country.
