Indian Embassy in Kuwait Organises Blood Donation Drive, Promotes Wellness Ahead of Yoga Day

Kuwait City, June 2026 : Marking World Blood Donor Day, the Embassy of India in Kuwait on Friday organised a blood donation camp at Adan Hospital and Blood Bank, drawing an enthusiastic response from members of the Indian community and reinforcing the spirit of humanitarian service and India-Kuwait friendship.

The event was organised by the Embassy in collaboration with Blood Donors Kerala (BDK) and the Federation of Indian Doctors (FID). The initiative aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation and highlight the importance of community participation in saving lives through regular blood contributions.

The camp was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Paramita Tripathi and Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Governor of Al Ahmadi Governorate. In a symbolic gesture underscoring the importance of the initiative, the Governor became the first donor at the camp.

The Embassy expressed gratitude for the overwhelming participation and support received from volunteers, donors and community organisations. It noted that the response reflected the strong bond between India and Kuwait and showcased the values of compassion, solidarity and public service shared by both countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Tripathi praised the Indian community for its willingness to contribute to society through blood donation. She said the enthusiasm shown by Indian nationals in Kuwait was inspiring and reflected their commitment to serving both their homeland and their host country.

“Today is a very special day. We are organising another blood donation camp in Kuwait. This is not the first one, and it certainly will not be the last,” she said, emphasising the Embassy’s continued commitment to organising community welfare initiatives.

The blood donation drive formed part of the Embassy’s broader outreach efforts aimed at promoting health awareness and encouraging social responsibility among expatriates.

Earlier in the day, the Embassy also organised a curtain-raiser yoga session at the Gulf SPIC Labour Camp as part of the celebrations leading up to International Day of Yoga 2026.

The event held special significance because Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the labour camp during his historic visit to Kuwait in December 2024. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of Indian workers and residents, who practised the Common Yoga Protocol under expert guidance.

This year’s International Day of Yoga theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” focuses on the role of yoga in enhancing physical fitness, mental well-being and overall quality of life across different age groups. Participants engaged in various yoga practices aimed at promoting flexibility, stress management and healthy living.

As part of the programme, Ambassador Tripathi distributed sports kits that included carrom boards, chess sets, cricket equipment and football gear. The initiative was intended to encourage physical activity, recreation and healthy lifestyles among workers living in labour camps.

The Embassy noted that promoting fitness and wellness aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of building a healthier society through initiatives such as Khelo India and Fit India. By combining community service activities like blood donation with wellness programmes such as yoga and sports promotion, the Embassy sought to strengthen community engagement and encourage a culture of health and social responsibility among Indian expatriates in Kuwait.

The twin events highlighted the Indian community’s active participation in humanitarian and wellness initiatives while further strengthening the longstanding friendship and people-to-people ties between India and Kuwait
