Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Warm Reception in Singapore by PM Lawrence Wong

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday and was warmly welcomed by Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The two leaders shared a friendly embrace, highlighting their strong rapport.

Earlier, PM Modi took to social media platform X to express his enthusiasm for the meetings focused on strengthening the India-Singapore partnership. He emphasized India’s reforms and the talent of its youth, positioning the country as an ideal investment destination. Modi also expressed anticipation for deepening cultural ties.

Upon his arrival at Changi Airport, PM Modi was received by Singapore’s Minister for Home Affairs and Law, K Shanmugam, along with a warm reception from the Indian community. Modi engaged with the crowd by signing autographs and even attempted to play the dhol. He later shared his gratitude, posting, “Thank you Singapore! The welcome was truly vibrant.”

In a special gesture, PM Lawrence Wong will host PM Modi for a private dinner. During his visit, Modi is also set to meet with leaders from Singapore’s business community, with several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) expected to be signed.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the significance of this visit, noting that it will strengthen India’s Act East policy, Indo-Pacific vision, and enhance economic and technological ties with Singapore. This visit follows a recent India-Singapore ministerial roundtable, where key areas for collaboration—such as digitization, skills development, sustainability, health, advanced manufacturing, and connectivity—were identified.
