Summer Camp 2026 for Girls Inaugurated with Grandeur; Focus on Sports Excellence and Personality Development
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari Launch the Initiative
Jaipur, June 2026: The Summer Camp 2026 (Women’s Category), organized under the Alwar MP Sports Festival 2025-26, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at RPS International School, Kotputli-Behror. The event was graced by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Alwar MP Bhupender Yadav and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari.
The inauguration witnessed the participation of coaches from different states, selected athletes, and their parents, creating an atmosphere of excitement and optimism. The organizers reiterated their commitment to providing young sports talents with quality training, modern facilities, and guidance for a bright future.
Sports as a Powerful Tool for Personality and Nation Building
Addressing the gathering, Bhupender Yadav said that sports are much more than winning and losing. According to him, sports instill discipline, leadership qualities, self-confidence, teamwork, and contribute significantly to nation-building. He emphasized that sporting activities teach young people how to face challenges and inspire them to move forward in life with determination.
He explained that initiatives such as the MP Sports Festival and Summer Camp are designed to identify local talent, provide opportunities for growth, and help athletes reach national and international platforms.
Yadav expressed gratitude to Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, for his support in connecting the camp with some of the country’s finest coaches. He stressed the need to organize even more advanced and structured training camps in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India in the future.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Fit India” and “Khelo India” initiatives, Yadav said these programmes have given a new identity to sports culture across the country. He encouraged young athletes to focus on continuous learning and improvement rather than being overly concerned about success or failure.
Highlighting the achievements of women athletes, he noted that Indian daughters are excelling in sports, education, science, administration, and many other fields, bringing pride to the nation.
Strengthening Sports Infrastructure and Rural Development
Yadav also outlined several development initiatives in the region. He said efforts are underway to strengthen sports infrastructure through the construction of hockey astroturfs, wrestling stadiums, sports grounds, running tracks, and other facilities.
In the education sector, 133 e-libraries have been established to provide rural students with access to modern learning resources. Additionally, 47 cluster office buildings will be developed for self-help groups to further enhance women’s economic empowerment.
He added that balanced development across sports, education, agriculture, tourism, and employment remains a priority. Plans are also being made to develop Siliserh Lake into a major bird-watching destination and place it prominently on national and international tourism maps.
To create a better environment for sports training, 18 sports grounds have been developed across the region, enabling children and youth to practice throughout the year. Alongside this, the dairy sector is being promoted to strengthen the rural economy, while Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) are being empowered to increase farmers’ incomes.
Events Like These Give Wings to Talent and Confidence: Diya Kumari
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari praised Bhupender Yadav’s dedication to education, sports, youth empowerment, and regional development. She said his efforts are contributing significantly to the vision of a developed Rajasthan and a developed India.
According to her, the MP Sports Festival and Summer Camp are not merely sporting events but important platforms for identifying talent, providing guidance, and building confidence among young people. She expressed confidence that Summer Camp 2026 would become a milestone in nurturing future champions.
Record Participation and Growing Impact
The Alwar MP Sports Festival has witnessed remarkable growth. While approximately 18,000 athletes participated in 11 sports disciplines across 11 venues in 2024, the 2025 edition expanded to 18 venues and 14 disciplines. Participation crossed 40,000 athletes, and the number of teams increased from 1,060 to 1,459.
A total of 609 talented athletes were selected for Summer Camp 2026 based on their performances in the festival. Out of these, 400 players are participating in this year’s camp, compared to 350 participants in the inaugural camp held in 2025.
Holistic Development Beyond Sports
The camp will focus not only on sports training but also on overall personality development. Participants will receive guidance on balanced nutrition, physiotherapy, technical training, and mental conditioning. Special sessions will also be conducted on communication skills, leadership development, self-defense, menstrual hygiene, and gender sensitivity.
During the event, national and state-level medal-winning athletes Komal Bhati and Anant Soni were honored for their achievements. Sharing their experiences, both athletes described the Summer Camp as a life-changing opportunity.
The chief guests also announced the date of the upcoming Alwar Tiger Marathon, which is scheduled to be held on February 7.
Several public representatives and dignitaries, including MLAs, former ministers, district officials, and sports administrators, attended the inaugural ceremony, underscoring the growing importance of sports as a catalyst for youth development and community participation in Rajasthan.
