New Delhi, June 2026 : As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for public service and environmental awareness, the Bharatiya Janata Party is observing a Seva Samarpan Pakhwada from June 5 (World Environment Day) to June 21 (International Yoga Day). Under this campaign, Delhi BJP has begun organizing outreach programmes across all 70 Assembly constituencies of Delhi to mark the completion of 12 years of the Modi Government. Through these programmes, BJP workers will also highlight the achievements of both the Central and Delhi Governments before the public.

To commemorate the completion of 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nation-building and public trust-oriented government, Delhi BJP today organized its first public meeting in Karawal Nagar Assembly constituency. The gathering was addressed by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra in the presence of local MLA and Delhi Government Minister Kapil Mishra, during which a ₹138 crore sewer development project was announced for Karawal Nagar.

MP Manoj Tiwari, Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, MLA Ajay Mahawar, and North-East District BJP President Dr. U.K. Chaudhary also addressed the gathering.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that Karawal Nagar has long struggled with challenges related to drainage, sewerage, drinking water supply, and basic infrastructure. The Delhi Government is committed to providing permanent solutions to these issues, and today’s foundation-laying marks a significant step in that direction.

She emphasized that the government’s objective is not merely to make announcements but to deliver results on the ground. Accordingly, large-scale development works are being initiated to expand the sewer network, strengthen drainage systems, and improve civic amenities in the area.

The Chief Minister noted that development works worth over ₹300 crore have been approved in Karawal Nagar over the past year through the Chief Minister’s Development Fund, MLA Fund, and the Yamuna Paar Development Board, helping to expedite several important projects.

She further announced that the ₹138 crore sewer line project has commenced, and sewer infrastructure will soon be expanded across Sonia Vihar, Milan Garden, Chauhan Patti, Sabhapur Extension, and other localities. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to replace old water pipelines, clean existing sewer systems through mechanized methods, and improve drinking water supply.

Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi Government is working on a war footing to resolve issues related to water supply and waterlogging. She informed residents that three Atal Canteens have already been launched in the area, while three Arogya Mandirs have also been approved to strengthen healthcare services.

She added that the demand for a new hospital in the region has come to her notice and that the government will take positive steps in that direction in the future. She assured residents that every effort would be made to provide Karawal Nagar and the Yamuna Paar region with all necessary civic facilities.

The Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing projects, including lane construction in Sabhapur Extension, road and drain construction from Rampal Chowk to Shiv Mandir, and efforts to strengthen power infrastructure across multiple areas. She reiterated the government’s commitment to integrating eastern and north-eastern Delhi into the mainstream of development after years of neglect.

She announced that the government is seriously considering the widening and beautification of the road from Signature Bridge to the Pushta Road corridor, in coordination with relevant agencies and legal procedures.

The Chief Minister further stated that the government is exploring the possibility of developing a modern and attractive riverfront along the Yamuna in Sonia Vihar, a project that could significantly boost local development and tourism.

She said that long-pending public demands for clean drinking water, a robust sewer network, and improved road infrastructure in Amar Vihar, Sabhapur, and surrounding areas are being addressed on priority. She expressed confidence that these projects would directly benefit lakhs of citizens and substantially improve the quality of life in the region.

Rekha Gupta emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Delhi Government is committed to development, good governance, and public welfare. The government’s goal is to ensure basic amenities for every citizen and establish Delhi as a modern, developed, and well-equipped capital city.

Delhi BJP President and Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, in his address, said that although the BJP remained in Opposition in Delhi for 11 of the last 12 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi continuously provided Delhi with world-class infrastructure, including roads, Metro expansion, the Delhi-Meerut rail line, Bharat Mandapam, and the Dwarka convention complex. He added that the BJP would soon discuss in greater detail the development projects delivered to Delhi by the Central Government.

Malhotra said it was a matter of pride that while the ₹138 crore sewer development project had been launched for Karawal Nagar, the Yamuna water from Sonia Vihar to Wazirabad had also been made nearly clean.

Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh remarked that while the previous government failed to install sewer lines in Karawal Nagar over 11 years, it found time to open liquor vends across Delhi. Due to the lack of sewage treatment plants and sewer networks, untreated wastewater continued to pollute the Yamuna. Today, work has begun on 43 kilometres of sewer lines in Karawal Nagar colonies, while historic sewer expansion projects are underway across all Assembly constituencies in Delhi.

Art, Culture and Languages Minister and Karawal Nagar MLA Kapil Mishra stated that the previous government made no serious effort to establish sewer infrastructure, citing O-Zone restrictions and mapping issues as excuses. As a result, houses built with people’s lifetime savings often suffered structural damage. Many sewer lines that had been laid were never operationalized. Today, projects worth approximately ₹150 crore have been launched for sewer infrastructure and other development works in four colonies of Karawal Nagar. Sewer line work in Sonia Vihar has already been substantially completed, and previously non-functional lines are being cleaned and made operational for the first time. He said every lane in the area would now be paved and every household connected to the sewer network.

Kapil Mishra added that 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership have been completed, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, a developed Delhi and a developed Karawal Nagar will contribute significantly to the vision of a Developed India.

He further stated that offices in the Delhi Secretariat, which remained inaccessible to the public during the previous government’s 11-year tenure, have remained open and accessible under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership. He asserted that an Opposition that has failed on every front is now attempting to return under new names, but the people of Delhi and India will not allow any effort to destabilize the nation to succeed.

MP Manoj Tiwari said that when he first contested elections from North-East Delhi in 2014, it was among the most backward regions of the capital. However, due to the numerous development projects brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, areas such as Karawal Nagar, Gonda, Babarpur, and Mustafabad are now emerging as preferred residential destinations for middle-class families.
