Trump Urges Restraint After Iranian Missile Attack, Pushes for Return to Nuclear Talks

Washington, June 2026 : US President Donald Trump called on Iran to halt further missile attacks against Israel and return to the negotiating table after Tehran launched a fresh barrage of ballistic missiles, raising tensions across the Middle East and threatening to derail ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump urged Iranian leaders to avoid further escalation and focus on diplomacy.

“What I would suggest to Iran: You’ve shot your missiles, that’s enough. Get back to the table and make a deal,” the President said.

Trump revealed that Washington and Tehran had been on the verge of reaching a significant agreement before the latest military exchange. According to him, negotiations had made substantial progress and a deal could have been finalized within days.

“We’re very close. I would say an agreement would be signed on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of this coming week. And now this takes place,” Trump said, expressing disappointment over the missile strikes.

He warned that the attack would complicate diplomatic efforts and reduce the chances of an immediate breakthrough.

“It’s certainly not going to help negotiations,” he added.

In a separate interview with Axios, Trump said he intended to personally contact Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an effort to prevent further military escalation. The US President emphasized that both sides should refrain from additional retaliation and avoid triggering a broader regional conflict.

“I am going to call Bibi right now and tell him not to retaliate. Each of them had their fun. Israel had its strike, and Iran had its strike. We don’t need another one,” Trump said.

The comments came after Iran launched multiple missile barrages toward Israel on Sunday. According to reports, at least ten ballistic missiles were fired in three separate waves. The Israeli military stated that all incoming missiles were successfully intercepted by its air defense systems.
