Missile Strike Damages Homes in West Bank as Iran-Israel Tensions Escalate

Jerusalem, June 2026 : A missile launched during the latest round of hostilities between Iran and Israel, or debris from an Israeli interception, struck a settlement in the occupied West Bank on Monday, damaging three residential buildings and heightening concerns over a broader regional escalation.

According to Israeli media reports, the impact occurred after air-raid sirens sounded across the Jerusalem region and parts of the West Bank. Dramatic videos circulating on social media showed a large plume of smoke rising from the affected area. Emergency responders from Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue service said there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The incident came amid a renewed exchange of missile and air strikes between Iran and Israel. Residents across several areas were forced to seek shelter as Israeli air defence systems intercepted incoming projectiles. Explosions were heard in and around Jerusalem as defensive batteries engaged the missiles.

Shortly after the initial attack, Iranian forces launched a second wave of missiles, prompting the Israeli military to issue fresh warnings and instruct residents in central Israel to remain close to protected spaces and shelters.

The latest escalation follows Israeli airstrikes on targets in Beirut, Lebanon, on Sunday, which reportedly killed at least two people. Iran responded with a barrage of missiles directed at Israeli territory, triggering alerts across northern and central parts of the country.

In retaliation, Israel carried out strikes early Monday against what it described as military targets in western and central Iran. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the Israeli Air Force had targeted several strategic sites inside Iranian territory.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) subsequently accused Israel of conducting attacks using air-launched ballistic missiles. The statement came after Iranian state media reported explosions in several cities, including Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan and Karaj.

Among the locations reportedly hit was the Karun petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran. Iranian officials said the facility suffered partial damage following an Israeli strike, a claim later acknowledged by the Israeli military.

The regional security situation was further complicated by another missile threat originating from Yemen. The Israeli military announced that it successfully intercepted a missile launched towards Israeli territory from Yemen early Monday morning.

The missile triggered warning sirens in several parts of central Israel, including the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, before being intercepted by air defence systems. No injuries or damage were immediately reported from the incident.

The rapid succession of attacks highlights the growing volatility across the region, with Iran, Israel and allied groups increasingly drawn into direct confrontation. The developments also come at a sensitive time as diplomatic efforts involving the United States and Iran continue, raising concerns that the latest violence could further undermine prospects for de-escalation.

As both sides exchange warnings and military action intensifies, regional observers fear that continued retaliation could widen the conflict and draw additional actors into an already fragile security landscape.
