PM Modi to attend G7 Summit in France, set for key bilateral meetings with global leaders
New Delhi, June 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Evian, France, on Tuesday for a two-day visit to attend the G7 Summit, marking the third and final leg of his two-nation tour. The visit comes at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, who will formally welcome the Indian Prime Minister upon his arrival.
During the summit, PM Modi will participate in a high-level working session themed “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity,” where leaders from G7 nations, partner countries, and representatives of major international institutions such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank will engage in discussions on global challenges.
The session is expected to focus on strengthening multilateral cooperation, addressing ongoing global economic uncertainties, and advancing sustainable development goals. India’s participation is being seen as a reflection of its expanding global footprint and its growing role in shaping international policy discussions.
Narendra Modi will also hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit. These include discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aimed at deepening strategic and economic cooperation.
In addition, PM Modi is expected to meet US President Donald Trump during the summit. According to officials, the meeting will include discussions on strengthening India-US relations and reviewing ongoing negotiations for a proposed trade agreement, which could become the first formal bilateral trade pact between the two countries.
The White House has confirmed that the Modi-Trump bilateral meeting will take place on June 17, adding further significance to India’s engagements at the summit.
On the diplomatic front, PM Modi will also attend a gala dinner hosted by President Macron, bringing together global leaders in an informal setting that traditionally allows for deeper exchanges outside formal negotiations.
India’s participation marks its 13th appearance at the G7 Summit and PM Modi’s seventh consecutive attendance. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India’s consistent presence underscores growing international recognition of its role in addressing global issues including peace, security, development, and environmental sustainability.
The Ministry also highlighted India’s efforts in platforms such as the G20 and the Voice of Global South Summit, where it has consistently advocated for the priorities and developmental concerns of emerging economies.
As global leaders gather in Evian, India is expected to push for stronger cooperation and more inclusive global governance frameworks.
