27th National e-Governance Conference Focuses on Modern Technologies: Data Collection, Protection, and AI
Mumbai : The 27th National e-Governance Conference took place on September 3-4, 2024, at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai. The second day featured several informative sessions with contributions from senior officers of the Central and State Governments, as well as industry and technology experts.
The day began with a session on ‘Data Governance: Privacy and Security in the Digital Age’. Speakers included Amit Agarwal from UIDAI, Paresh Shah, Rishi Agarwal, Achyut Ghosh, and Amit Shukla. The discussion covered data privacy laws from various countries.
The second session focused on ‘AI in Governance’. Experts shared their insights on the role of artificial intelligence in governance, with contributions from Prashant Salwan of IMM Indore, Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Prasad Unnikrishnan, and Anjali Kaushik of IIT Gurgaon.
The third session, themed ‘Sustainability with e-Governance’, was chaired by Lovelysh Chanana, Head of Government Affairs. Participants included Sapna Kapoor of NIC Maharashtra, Devroop Dhar, co-founder of Primas Partners India, and Ramendra Verma of Grant Thornton India. The session highlighted India’s advancements in sustainable data management and discussed green technology and AI’s role in sustainable administration.
In the breakout sessions, various district-level e-Governance initiatives were presented. The first breakout session featured information on Lab Mitra, Wokha Saathi, WhatsApp Chatbot, the use of barcodes in digitizing police station property registers, and PCMC Smart Sarathi. This session was chaired by S. N. Tripathi and included contributions from Varanasi District Magistrate Rajalingam, Wokha Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ranjan, Chandannagar Police Commissioner Amit Jawalgi, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shekhar Singh, and Rajkot Municipal Commissioner Devang Desai.
The second breakout session included presentations from Collector Jitendra Doody of Satara, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Meenal Karamwal of Nanded, Sangli Miraj Commissioner Shubham Gupta, Central Government Cotton Federation Managing Director Appasaheb Dhulaj, and Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Telecommunication Sumanesh Joshi. They shared their regional achievements and initiatives, aiming to provide valuable insights for other states.
The third post-breakout session addressed ‘Cyber Security and Emergency Response Readiness’. Chaired by Dr. Sanjay Baaham, Director General of Computer Emergency Response Team IT, the session featured guidance from National Security Council Joint Secretary Narendra Nath Gangvarapu, TCS Marketing and Communications Head Chandan Raina, and DSCI CEO Srinivas Godse. Topics included secure e-office systems, digital trust in the era of deep fakes, developing a national cyber security framework, the future of AI in health administration, and data analytics for disaster mitigation.
