Kolkata Doctor’s Death: No Evidence of Gang Rape, Sanjay Roy Sole Accused – CBI Update
A new and shocking update has emerged in the investigation of the rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. According to sources, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has ruled out the possibility of a gang rape in the case. However, the CBI has yet to issue an official statement on this development. So far, Sanjay Roy has been arrested as the primary suspect in connection with the crime.
CBI sources indicate that the evidence gathered suggests that Sanjay Roy acted alone in the brutal rape and murder of the doctor, which took place at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata last month. The CBI has reportedly reached the final stages of the investigation, and a charge sheet is expected to be filed soon.
The case was handed over to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court, overturning the initial decision of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to not involve the central agency. The CBI is under pressure to expedite the investigation, with opposition parties and social activists holding the Chief Minister accountable for delays. Last week, she requested an update on the case.
So far, the CBI has recorded statements from over 100 individuals and conducted 10 polygraph tests, including one on Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, the former head of the hospital. Despite the comprehensive investigation, sources say the CBI has found no evidence to suggest that others were involved in the crime. The victim’s body was discovered in a hospital room on the morning of August 9.
In connection with the case, three individuals have been arrested, the most prominent being Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, who resigned from his position shortly after the murder.
