Health Department Takes a Major Step Ahead, under the Guidance of CM Sai and Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal

Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal remains steadfast in his commitment to improving the healthcare sector in Chhattisgarh. Following the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and under the supervision of Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, the Health Department has taken a significant decision of providing a historic salary hike to senior residents, demonstrators (PG), assistant professors, associate professors, and professors in government medical colleges. This order will be effective from 1st September 2024, across all government medical colleges in the state.
According to the order issued by Chhattisgarh Department of Medical Education, the salary of professors in medical colleges located in non-scheduled areas has been increased from Rs 1.55 lakh to Rs 1.90 lakh. Similarly, the salary of associate professors has been raised from Rs 1.35 lakh to Rs 1.55 lakh, assistant professors’ salaries have increased from Rs 90,000 to Rs 1 lakh, and the salaries of senior residents and demonstrators (PG) have been enhanced from Rs 65,000 to Rs 75,000.
In the medical colleges located in scheduled areas, the salary of professors has been increased from Rs 1.90 lakh to Rs 2.25 lakh. The salary of associate professors has been raised from Rs 1.55 lakh to Rs 1.85 lakh, assistant professors’ salaries have been increased from Rs 90,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh, and the salaries of senior residents and demonstrators (PG) have been enhanced from Rs 65,000 to Rs 95,000.
As per the revised contractual salary structure for government medical college doctors, there has been a salary hike of approximately 46% in scheduled areas and 23% in non-scheduled areas. Commenting on this historic salary hike, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal stated that there would be no compromise when it comes to expanding healthcare facilities in the state. He emphasized that it is the right of future doctors studying in government medical colleges to receive high-quality education from well-qualified teachers. This salary hike order clearly reflects the state government’s intent to strengthen the healthcare sector.
