Mumbai : Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the administration to expedite the tender process for the redevelopment of Abhudaya Nagar MHADA Colony, paving the way for the much-anticipated redevelopment project.
Mr. Fadnavis held a meeting at Sahyadri State Guest House in response to a statement by Legislative Council member Pravin Darekar. During the meeting, these directives were issued. Present at the meeting were Housing Minister Atul Save (via television), MLA Prasad Lad, Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing Department Valsa Nair Singh, MHADA Vice President Sanjeev Jaiswal, Principal Milind Borikar, Deputy Secretary Ajit Kawade, Under Secretary Arvind Shete, and representatives from the Abhyudaya Nagar Cooperative Housing Association, including Former President Nand Kumar Katkar and Vice President Vilas Sawant.
During the discussions, Mr. Fadnavis acknowledged the concerns of the project’s residents. He instructed that the tender for the redevelopment project must include key conditions: each flat should have a minimum area of 635 square feet, provision for four-wheeler parking for future flat owners, and the pricing of flats should reflect current market rates.
Legislative Council member Pravin Darekar expressed his gratitude to the government, particularly to Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis, for initiating the redevelopment of Abhyudaya Nagar. He noted that around 15,000 residents of Abhyudaya Nagar Colony stand to benefit from this decision and added that the Marathi community and workers in Mumbai are pleased with the government’s decision.
Residents have already paid structural costs for the redevelopment of Abhudaya Nagar MHADA Colony, and this project is expected to serve as a pilot initiative. On this occasion, federation representatives urged that the redevelopment be done thoughtfully, avoiding the creation of a concrete jungle, and praised the government’s innovative approach.
MHADA Vice President Sanjeev Jaiswal presented the redevelopment project plan and provided detailed information about the initiative.
