Chief Minister Participates in Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam: Special Plantation drive by planting a Peepal tree
Gandhinagar : On World Environment Day, June 5, 2024, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi initiated the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, urging the people of the country to plant and care for trees as a symbol of their love, respect, and honour towards their mother and to enhance the greenness of the Earth. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has responded significantly to this initiative by planting 13 crore 95 lakh trees so far, securing the second position in the country, and further advancing the ‘Ek Ped, Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
To further support this initiative, a special plantation drive was held on 17th September at the new Secretariat premises in Gandhinagar. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel participated by planting a Peepal tree, emphasizing the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Health Minister Shri Rushikesh Patel and Forest Minister Shri Mulubhai Bera also participated in the tree plantation. Approximately 2,300 employees, including Additional Chief Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries of the State Government, joined the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and planted trees, showing their dedication to environmental protection. Forest Minister Shri Mulubhai Bera mentioned that this special drive has been organized in all 33 districts of the state, with tree-planting activities occurring at district offices. Principal Secretary of Forest Environment Shri Sanjiv Kumar, Head of the Forest Force Shri U.D. Singh, along with senior secretaries and forest officials, were present at the event.
