South Asia’s First Airbus H125 Full-Motion Simulator to Be Installed in India, Boosting Helicopter Pilot Training

New Delhi, July 2026 : India is set to take a major leap in aviation training with the installation of South Asia’s first Airbus H125 full-motion flight simulator at Indocopters Private Limited’s headquarters in Greater Noida. Developed by Switzerland-based Loft Dynamics, the state-of-the-art simulator is expected to significantly enhance helicopter pilot training by providing realistic, immersive and safe mission rehearsal capabilities for operators across the region.

The new training facility marks a milestone in India’s expanding aerospace ecosystem and will serve pilots operating the Airbus H125 helicopter, one of the most widely used multi-role helicopters across South Asia. The simulator will allow pilots to practise complex and high-risk scenarios in a controlled virtual environment, reducing operational risks while improving safety and mission readiness.

Indocopters, one of India’s leading helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) companies, will host the advanced simulator at its Greater Noida facility. The installation strengthens the company’s role beyond aircraft maintenance by expanding into comprehensive pilot training and aviation safety.

The simulator features cutting-edge technology, including a six-degree-of-freedom full-motion platform, an integrated digital glass cockpit and a 360-degree immersive virtual reality environment. These capabilities closely replicate real-world flying conditions, enabling pilots to experience highly realistic flight dynamics and operational challenges without leaving the ground.

Designed specifically for the Airbus H125, the simulator will support training for emergency procedures, high-altitude operations, confined-area landings, adverse weather conditions, search and rescue missions, and other specialised flight profiles. Pilots will also be able to rehearse mission-specific scenarios repeatedly, improving proficiency while avoiding the costs and risks associated with live flight training.

The H125 helicopter has become the backbone of several civil and government aviation operations throughout the Indian subcontinent. Widely recognised for its versatility, the aircraft is deployed for utility transport, corporate aviation, emergency medical services, disaster relief, aerial surveillance and operations in mountainous terrain, particularly in the Himalayas.

With more than 80 Airbus H125 helicopters already operating across India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, the demand for advanced simulation-based pilot training has grown rapidly. The new facility is expected to become a regional training hub, serving not only Indocopters’ pilots but also operators such as Global Vectra Helicorp Limited and other helicopter companies across South Asia.

Ajay Shah, Chief Executive Officer of Indocopters, said the demanding missions undertaken by H125 helicopters require exceptional pilot preparedness. He noted that the Loft Dynamics simulator will provide realistic, safe and highly effective training for critical operational scenarios, enabling pilots to build confidence before undertaking actual missions.

The installation comes at a significant time for India’s helicopter manufacturing sector. Airbus Helicopters, in partnership with TATA Advanced Systems, has recently begun production of the H125 helicopter at the country’s first private-sector helicopter final assembly line in Vemagal, Karnataka. As domestic production increases and the regional H125 fleet expands, the need for world-class pilot training infrastructure is expected to grow substantially.

He noted that advanced helicopter simulators have traditionally been available only at limited locations, forcing pilots to travel long distances for recurrent training.
