Former Madhya Pradesh Police Officer Convicted in Sexual Offences Case

Jaipur, July 2026 : A Special POCSO Court in Jaipur has convicted former Additional Inspector General (AIG) of the Madhya Pradesh Police, Anil Mishra, in a case involving sexual offences against a woman and her minor daughter.

The Court of the Special Judge, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act Cases No. 2, Jaipur Metropolitan, found Mishra guilty after concluding the trial and examining the evidence presented by the prosecution and defence.

The court sentenced Mishra to life imprisonment for the offence of rape committed against the woman. In a separate charge involving the minor daughter, the court awarded him three years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine under the relevant provisions of law.

According to the prosecution, the woman had approached the Women’s Police Station (South) in Jaipur and lodged a complaint on July 11, 2014. Following registration of the case, the police conducted an investigation, collected evidence and subsequently filed a charge sheet before the competent court.

During the lengthy trial, the prosecution relied on documentary evidence as well as statements from witnesses to establish the charges against the accused. The court examined the evidence and heard detailed arguments presented by both sides before arriving at its verdict.

After assessing the material placed before it, the Special POCSO Court found Mishra guilty of the offences and convicted him.

While pronouncing the judgment, the court took particular note of Mishra’s position as a senior police officer. It observed that an officer entrusted with the responsibility of protecting citizens had instead misused his official position and influence in connection with the offences.

The court considered the offences to be grave in nature and held that they warranted stringent punishment. The sentences imposed reflect the seriousness with which the judiciary views crimes involving sexual violence against women and children.
