State Government Prioritizes the Welfare of Ex-Servicemen: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the government will ensure timely financial assistance to the dependents of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The Madhya Pradesh government will provide Rs 1 crore in financial aid to the families of each martyr, following approval from the Army’s board for cases of martyrdom during combat or due to other incidents. Dr. Yadav said that the welfare of ex-servicemen and safeguarding the interests of their families remain a top priority for the state government.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed to organize a special event titled “Know Our Army” by the Army on November 1, coinciding with Madhya Pradesh’s foundation day. He also instructed officials to set a date for an air show by the Air Force in Bhopal. Dr. Yadav chaired the 20th meeting of the Rajya Sainik Board at Mantralaya today, with the Chief Secretary, Smt. Veera Rana; Additional Chief Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, Dr. Rajesh Rajoura; Additional Chief Secretary for Home, Shri S.N. Mishra; Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, Shri Sanjay Kumar Shukla; as well as officials from the General Administration and Finance Department. The meeting also included the GOC of Central India Region, Lieutenant General, Jabalpur Shri P.S. Shekhawat; Brigadier SN Tiwari, representing the Commanding in Chief of Central Command in Lucknow; Secretary of the Rajya Sainik Board, Brigadier (Retd.) Arun Nair; and other board members.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave important approvals in the interest of army Soldiers and their families. These include increasing the amount given in case of disability due to war or military action from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore depending on the percentage of disability, doubling the monthly grant given to the parents of martyrs, assisting martyrs and differently-abled Soldiers with an amount of Rs 51 thousand instead of Rs 10 thousand for the marriage of sisters and daughters of their family, providing double the amount in place of Rs 10 thousand as Samman Nidhi every year to families of jawans whose parents are residents of Madhya Pradesh and whose daughter is in the armed forces.
The meeting began with Secretary Shri Arun Nair presenting the implementation report of the decisions taken in the 19th meeting of Rajya Sainik Board in 2018. The amount given to recipients (residents of Madhya Pradesh) of awards for gallantry and distinguished service has been increased by the government by issuing an order on March 30, 2023. The construction work of Sainik Rest Home Betul has also been completed.
About 4 lakh people, including about 70 thousand ex-servicemen, 30 thousand present jawans as well as members of army families, are residing in Madhya Pradesh. 24 district military offices are functioning in the state. 17 rest houses are also being operated for them.
Now financial assistance will be made available in this way
1. Bonafide residents of M.P. whose daughters are in the armed forces will be given Samman Nidhi of Rs 20,000 per year (double the amount of Rs 10 thousand given earlier).
2. In case of disability during war or military action, due to terrorism, and internal security, Rs 10 lakh (depending on the percentage of disability) will be increased to Rs 1 crore.
3. For the marriage of the sister/daughter of a martyr/differently abled person during war or military action, terrorism, and internal security, the amount will be increased from Rs 10 thousand to Rs 51 thousand.
4. Grant of Rs five thousand per month given to the parents of martyrs will be increased to Rs 10 thousand per month.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s instructions
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav issued the necessary government order to provide the ex-gratia amount of Rs one crore to the dependents of martyred jawans, to provide state assistance based on the recognition of battle casualties declared by the army in war/military action, to extend the time limit for gun licenses, to conduct tests to ensure mandatory compliance and to renew the license free of charge.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also gave instructions to increase the monthly assistance amount of non-pensioner ex-servicemen and widows of World War II from Rs 8 thousand to Rs 15 thousand and to take necessary action after examining the construction of Zila Sainik Vishram Griha and Welfare Office in Shahdol.
