Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Approves Two Projects Worth ₹29,550 Crore in Ratnagiri

Mumbai : Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today approved two investment projects worth ₹29,550 crore in the Watad and Jhargaon Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) areas in Ratnagiri. These projects are expected to generate 38,120 jobs. The high-tech investment initiatives involve Silicon Wafers, ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging), Fab, Space Technology (Aerospace), and Defense.

The approval was given during a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee of the Industries Department, chaired by Chief Minister Shinde. Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Brijesh Singh, and Principal Secretary of the Industries Department Dr. Harshdeep Kamble were also present.

One of the projects is the third mega project of Vellore Information Technology Park, focused on manufacturing high-tech silicon wafers, fabs, and ATMPs. This initiative will take place in the Watad and Jhargaon MIDC areas, with an investment of ₹19,550 crore. It is expected to generate 33,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The second project, spearheaded by Reliance Infrastructure, is a major initiative for manufacturing materials in the aerospace and defense sectors. This project will involve an investment of ₹10,000 crore and will create 4,500 jobs. It is the first mega project in Maharashtra dedicated to aerospace and defense manufacturing.

These projects are anticipated to significantly boost the local economy, creating employment opportunities and enhancing commercial activities in the region. They will also drive technological innovation, promote research and development, and help establish a robust local supply chain. Additionally, the projects will provide substantial benefits to the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector. Training and skill development opportunities will be offered to local workers, improving their employability and proficiency in emerging technologies.
