₹5 Lakh Aid to Families of Fire Victims in Siddharth Nagar, Chembur – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Mumbai : The next of kin of those killed in the fire incident at Siddharth Nagar, Chembur, will receive an ex-gratia payment of ₹5 lakh. Additionally, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the injured will receive medical treatment at the government’s expense.
Chief Minister Shinde visited the accident site today to inspect the damage and meet with the affected families. He assured them of all possible support during this difficult time.
Speaking to the media after his visit, the Chief Minister described the incident as deeply unfortunate, stating that the Gupta family has been struck by a severe tragedy. He announced that a high-level inquiry will be conducted to investigate the incident and that steps will be taken to prevent such accidents in the future. He also mentioned that if the ongoing slum rehabilitation work in the area has been stalled, appropriate decisions will be made to address the situation.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale, Mumbai Suburban District Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, former MP Rahul Shewale, and officials from the Mumbai Municipal Corporation were present during the visit.
