Udhayanidhi Stalin Launches ₹78 Crore Women Empowerment and Sports Initiative
Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin, will oversee the distribution of electronic equipment under the government scheme. The scheme will cover areas such as Thirenyamanala, Kalhaikurichi, and Tirupattur Mettamang, encompassing a total of 1,480 panchayats, and will feature 33 distribution facilities. In addition, ₹78.05 crores will be allocated to support 803 Women Self-Help Groups, with the extension of bank loans as part of the initiative.
The Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin, participated in event at Muthamizharinagar Kanalanagar in Thirenyamanala Mettam, marking the centenary celebrations of the Saban. During the event, bank loans were disbursed to women’s self-help groups, and sports equipment was distributed to various panchayats. Out of 860 panchayats covered, 412 are located in Kalhaikurichi Mettatnathach, and 208 in Tirupathur Mettatnatach. The distribution also included 33 satellite centers equipped with telecommunications devices.
During this occasion, Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin announced the provision of sports equipment for Panchayat Councils under the “Kanalanjar Sports Kids” project. Additionally, ₹78 crores in bank loans were granted to 803 women’s self-help groups. The event is considered significant as it dates back to a long tradition, highlighting the ongoing efforts of the Tamil Nadu government.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that sports have been an integral part of the state’s culture, and this initiative is intended to continue supporting athletes. Prominent athletes, including Pavitra from the STAD Hostel, have made notable contributions in various championships, such as the Grond Pri Kanasanal-2022 and Junior Canasanal Athletic Championship 2023. Athlete Yuvraj Err also shared his views, celebrating the state’s recent victories in several junior athletic events.
Furthermore, Tamil Nadu’s representation at the recent Olympic event in Boryspil, where six athletes from the state participated, was acknowledged. The state government provided ₹7 lakhs as an incentive for training, resulting in Tamil Nadu athletes winning four medals. As a gesture of encouragement, the government has allocated ₹5 crores for future training.
The government is committed to supporting agricultural fairs and crop-related incentives, including ₹86 crores for sports-related activities. A total of 1,300 initiatives for soldiers were also undertaken, providing financial support and incentives across Tamil Nadu. To further boost employment and educational opportunities, the Tamil Nadu government has launched schemes like the Kalalanjar Women’s License Diploma Scheme.
The Chief Minister also announced the extension of the Tamil Butalavan scheme to Moivars, providing financial assistance to students pursuing higher education. The government remains dedicated to supporting rural communities, promoting women’s welfare, and uplifting youth through various programs. As part of these efforts, government schemes have benefitted over 530 crores of women in the last three years.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Mr. A.E. Selu, Mr. K. Bichondi, and other state officials. Together, they highlighted the continued efforts towards building a model government that supports all citizens.
