Suraksha Sakhi Samvad Fortnight Concludes – Special Initiative for Women’s Safety Awareness by Police Headquarters Under Chief Minister’s Directive
Jaipur : As per the directives of the state government, the “Suraksha Sakhi Samvad Fortnight” was held from October 5 to 20, during which hundreds of Suraksha Sakhis (safety volunteers) affiliated with police stations conducted a special campaign, reaching over 3.51 lakh women and girls across the state. The campaign, run by active Suraksha Sakhis from more than 1,000 police stations, involved visiting households to raise awareness about women’s safety and rights. These volunteers engaged in conversations with women and girls in villages, neighborhoods, and key locations to promote safety awareness.
Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Civil Rights and AHT, Mrs. Malini Agrawal, stated that Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma had recently directed a special awareness campaign for women’s safety during a review meeting with the Home Department. In response, this initiative was launched across all districts under the supervision of police headquarters, with the aim of increasing awareness among women and girls about their safety and ensuring a secure environment. She informed that during the fortnight, active Suraksha Sakhis from all police stations managed to reach more than 2.36 lakh girls and over 1.15 lakh women.
Suraksha Sakhis Conducted Door-to-Door Outreach—
ADG Mrs. Agrawal mentioned that under the supervision of Police Commissioners, Range Inspectors General, District Superintendents of Police, and Deputy Commissioners of Police, the appointed nodal officers at the police station level oversaw the Suraksha Sakhis’ door-to-door outreach efforts. The volunteers provided information on women’s safety laws while also engaging with women’s groups in public places to raise awareness. Feedback and suggestions from women and girls collected during the campaign will be shared with the respective police stations.
Suraksha Sakhis to Be Honored at the Range Level—
ADG Mrs. Agrawal added that Suraksha Sakhis who made notable contributions during the campaign will be honored in the coming days at the range level by the Police Commissioners, Range Inspectors General, District Superintendents of Police, and Deputy Commissioners of Police.
