Completion of Initial Mixing of Ballot Units, Control Units, and EVM Machines

Mumbai : A sufficient number of EVM machines are available for the assembly elections. The initial mixing of all ballot units, control units, and EVM machines has been completed from October 18 to 21, 2024, as informed by the office of the Chief Election Officer.

In connection with the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, there are 2,21,600 ballot units (221%), 1,21,886 control units (122%), and 1,32,094 VVPATs (132%) available for 1,186 polling stations. Out of the total EVM machines that underwent first-level verification, 5,166 ballot units, 5,166 control units, and 5,165 VVPATs were used for training and awareness programs.

During the 2024 Lok Sabha general elections, 16 election petitions were filed in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies before the Bombay High Court and various benches. Due to these 16 petitions, 56,200 BU and 28,408 CU machines were sealed due to court proceedings in various districts of the state. Currently, the High Court has released EVM-VVPAT machines from 7 of the 16 election petitions, which include 23,731 BU and 12,307 CU machines.
