Mock Drill Preparation Meeting Held At Kolasib
A preparatory meeting was held today at the DC Conference Hall, Kolasib, to discuss the upcoming Mock Drill scheduled for 14th November 2024. Chaired by Mr. Robert C. Lalhmangaiha, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the meeting focused on the details of the drill and preparations required.
DDMA Chairman Mr. Lalhmangaiha expressed his appreciation for the participants who are dedicated to ensuring the effectiveness of the Mock Drill and emphasized the importance of preparedness in disaster response. The designated officers and organizers, including the Sub-Divisional Collector (SDC) and District Organizer of the DDMA, were acknowledged for their contributions.
During the meeting, Ms. Zorinsangi, SDC, gave a briefing on the exercise procedures, which outlined the locations, schedule, and responsibilities of the teams involved. Mr. Lalnunfela, the District Organizer, also provided a presentation using PowerPoint, further detailing the steps involved in the exercise.
The Mock Drill, set to take place across Kolasib Town, will involve exercises simulating various emergency scenarios. This will include fire response exercises in Karkawn and Tumpui areas, as well as motor vehicle accident response in Rengtekawn. Additionally, exercises will be held at Bairabi to practice rescue operations in case of flooding.
The DC Office gate will serve as the Staging Area for assembly and equipment setup. At 10:05 AM, the drill will commence with a siren. Various departments involved in the exercise will review and coordinate their response protocols.
The Mega Mock Drill is scheduled across Mizoram on 14th November 2024, with a preparatory Table Top Exercise on 12th November, to be led by the State Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority.
