Dudo Kolasib And UD&PA-Pdmc Visit Solid Waste Management Centre

Kolasib : This afternoon at 2:00 PM, the Solid Waste Management Centre in Dihmuntlang, Kolasib, was visited by the District Urban Development Officer (DUDO) and SDO Civil Bairabi, Pi Josephine Zonunsangi, along with the Director of Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) and the Project Development Management Consultant (PDMC) team. The visit included an evaluation of the ongoing operations and discussions to implement more efficient strategies and plans for future improvements.

The Solid Waste Management Centre in Dihmuntlang, Kolasib District, was established in 2020 under the Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Department and has been managed by the District Urban Development Officer since its inception. This facility serves as a major hub for waste management for Kolasib and its surrounding areas.

As part of the Government of India’s flagship initiative, the Swachh Bharat Mission, efforts have been made to ensure effective and systematic waste management. The Dihmuntlang Centre is currently operating as a Pilot Project under the UD&PA Department, focusing on comprehensive waste segregation and disposal methods.

During today’s visit, Pu VL Thazuala, Specialist from the Directorate of UD&PA, Aizawl, and an expert team from Nangia & Co. LLP, the Development Management Consultant (PDMC), joined the evaluation. The team included Saleh Sabat, Team Leader; Panmoy Adak, Solid Waste Management Expert; and Jerry Lalremruata, Project Manager cum IEC & CB Specialist. The experts reviewed the waste management processes and provided insights for enhancing the centre’s efficiency and effectiveness.
