LESDE Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar Meets Union Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister

New Delhi : Yesterday, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (LESDE) Department, met with Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi. The discussion focused on enhancing skill development initiatives in Mizoram.

Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar remarked, “Mizo youth possess exceptional talent in skill development. They have demonstrated their capabilities by winning several medals in the IndiaSkills Competition and representing India in the WorldSkills Competition, where two participants from Mizoram were included in the national team.” He emphasized the need to establish and expand Skill Development Centres in Mizoram to nurture and showcase the potential of Mizo youth. The Union Minister assured full support in realizing these initiatives.

Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar also highlighted the importance of integrating sports with skill development. He proposed training programs in collaboration with the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness, and Leisure Skills Council (SPEFL-SC) to provide skill development opportunities in various sports-related job roles. He further discussed how sports and skill development could complement each other to empower Mizo youth. The Union Minister acknowledged the suggestions and confirmed that steps were already being taken to align these efforts with the Sports Sector Council under MSDE.

Yesterday evening, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar also met with Shri Chanchal Kumar, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of DoNER, at his office in New Delhi. The discussion addressed concerns about rejected sports project proposals for Northeast States under the Ministry of DoNER, emphasizing the need for better communication and clarity. The financial status of ongoing projects in Mizoram and the State Government’s efforts were also reviewed during the meeting.

Pu John Tanpuia, Director of the LESDE Department, and Pu H. Lalramenga, PS, accompanied the Minister during the meetings.
