Guidelines Issued by Maharashtra Public Service Commission for Divyang Candidates
Mumbai : The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has published “Guidelines for Divyang Candidates” on its official website. These guidelines provide information about granting compensatory time during examinations and arranging a scribe for candidates unable to write, based on their request. Divyang candidates must submit a formal request with all relevant documents as per the provisions outlined in the applicable government circular after applying for an advertised post. Prior approval from the Commission is mandatory.
For advertisements like the Translator (Marathi) position under the Language Directorate, General State Service, Group-C, candidates requiring a scribe or compensatory time must submit a prescribed request form along with all necessary documents and certificates during the verification and translation test, including original copies.
Special attention has been drawn to paragraph 6 of the government circular, which specifies that the educational qualification of scribes/readers/laboratory assistants must be lower than the minimum qualification required for the examination and one level lower than the candidate’s qualification. As the minimum qualification for these exams is a degree in various disciplines, the maximum qualification for a scribe must not exceed 12th grade. Divyang candidates requesting a scribe must adhere to this provision.
Candidates requiring a scribe and/or compensatory time must present Form 1/Form 2, a significant disability certificate, and Sample No. 11 during the document verification/translation test.
Candidates with physical disabilities (both hands affected/absent) or cerebral palsy are exempt from submitting Sample No. 11. However, those requesting a scribe must specify their own educational qualifications in Form 1/Form 2.
The prescribed forms (Form 1/Form 2 and Sample No. 11) are available on the MPSC’s official website, as notified by the Commission.
