The Constitution Teaches Rights as Well as Duties: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma
Jaipur : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma stated that the state government is dedicated to the welfare of citizens, considering the fundamental spirit of public welfare enshrined in the Constitution as paramount. He emphasized that the government has brought the essence of the Constitution to life through various schemes and policies. Initiatives in public welfare, women empowerment, and education have ensured equal opportunities for all citizens, fostering the creation of an inclusive society.
Shri Sharma was addressing the “Constitution Day Program” organized at the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday. He remarked that this day celebrates the glory of the Constitution and honors the great minds who created this remarkable document. Shri Sharma highlighted that India’s Constitution is the world’s most effective, serving as the foundation of democracy and a guide to social, economic, and political justice. It prioritizes the principles of equality, liberty, and fraternity. He further stated that while the Constitution grants us rights, it also teaches us the importance of fulfilling our duties. He added that despite enduring centuries of oppression, India stood resilient because its ancestors dutifully upheld their responsibilities. He urged everyone to perform their duties with honesty and dedication.
Prime Minister’s Initiative to Celebrate Constitution Day
The Chief Minister pointed out that while the Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949, and implemented on January 26, 1950, the celebration of Constitution Day was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This initiative aimed to disseminate the values, ideals, and democratic framework of the Constitution to every citizen. By choosing this day, the Prime Minister reminded the nation that the Constitution is its soul, and safeguarding and respecting it is our foremost duty. Shri Sharma acknowledged the invaluable contribution of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and other architects of the Constitution. He also highlighted the construction of five memorials related to Babasaheb’s life, known as Panchteerth, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, honoring his legacy.
State Government Spreading the Message of Constitution Day
The Chief Minister mentioned that the state government has undertaken several initiatives to spread the message of Constitution Day among the citizens. Efforts include honoring those who excel in fulfilling the fundamental duties outlined in the Constitution. Campaigns are being conducted to maximize the benefits of welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes. Additionally, programs such as reading the Preamble in schools and government offices, as well as organizing competitions and events, are being held in rural and urban areas.
He emphasized that embracing the Constitution and implementing its principles in public life, along with diligently fulfilling our duties, is the key to nation-building. The Chief Minister urged citizens to incorporate the values of the Constitution into their daily lives.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa remarked that the Constitution is not just a book but a reflection of the nation’s soul. He encouraged citizens to remain aware of their rights but also not to neglect their duties, contributing to good governance and making the state a leading one in the country through collective efforts.
During the program, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma led the attendees in reading the Preamble of the Constitution.
