Jagdalpur: Farmers are getting convenience due to paddy procurement at support price

Paddy is the main crop of Chhattisgarh, through which the farmers fulfill their own needs including their sustenance. To ensure that the farmers get the right price for their hard work, the government fixes the minimum support price every year. Which is fixed with the aim of giving more profit to the farmers than their cost. The purchase of paddy by the government at the minimum support price has not only

provided financial stability to the farmers, but has also improved their income. The state government’s paddy procurement policy at the support price is providing farmers with reasonable prices as well as encouragement for advanced farming. Farmer Mahadev Baghel, resident of Garavand Khurd of Jagdalpur block and farmer Mandev, resident of Turenar, will repay the Kharif crop loan by selling their Kharif paddy. At the same time, they talked about using it for essential household works. Both the farmers reiterated their resolve to increase their income by cultivating maize and vegetables in the Rabi crop season. Both these farmers praised the government’s paddy procurement system and thanked the state government for the prompt payment.

Help in repaying loan

Farmers repay their agriculture loans on time from the amount received on support price, which gives them relief from the burden of interest. Regarding this, Mahadev Baghel, a farmer resident of Garavand Khurd of Jagdalpur development block, says that advanced cultivation of paddy in about three acres of agricultural land has given good yield. Now, by selling 56 quintals of paddy, he will repay the Kharif crop loan as well as use it for domestic work. At the same time, for Rabi crop, he will again take crop loan and produce maize and vegetables.

Mandev Baghel is focusing on the education of children

Mandev Baghel, a farmer from Turenar who came to sell paddy at Garavand Kala paddy procurement centre, said that he is selling 54 quintals of paddy. With this amount, he will pay the crop loan, pay the fees for his younger daughter Pratiksha’s coaching class and spend some money on household needs. He said that with the help of tube well, he will grow maize and vegetables in the Rabi crop season, and has also taken crop loan for the Rabi crop.

The purchase of paddy at the support price has given new economic strength to the farmers. This initiative is not only increasing the income of the farmers but is also motivating them towards becoming self-reliant. It is known that paddy of the farmers is being procured through a total of 79 paddy procurement centers in Bastar district.
