Union Environment & Forest Minister Meets Mizoram Forest Minister, Discusses Key Initiatives
Aizawl :Pu Lalthansanga, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (EF&CC), Government of Mizoram, met with Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), along with other officials from the Ministry, to discuss plans for the improvement and maintenance of Aizawl Zoological Park.
The meeting focused on several initiatives, including the installation of solar power systems, procurement of electric vehicles for operational use in the zoo, and the establishment of a Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre to manage wildlife casualties in Aizawl and its surrounding areas. Additionally, the discussion covered the provision of the second installment for the Champhai Rescue Centre and the steps required to resolve the non-recognition status of the zoo since 2022 under the Central Zoo Authority. The Union Minister assured that the Ministry would provide necessary support to address these concerns effectively.
Pu Lalthansanga was accompanied by Pu H. Lalengmawia, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary of EF&CC, and senior IFS officers.
On the same day, the Minister also held discussions with representatives from the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI). During the meeting, he highlighted the need for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding to support the Mizoram Cancer Institute within the Aizawl East 1 Constituency. He emphasized the importance of submitting proposals and sought assurances from PGCI for necessary follow-up actions to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
