Supply Department Receives Recognition from Ministry of Food & Public Distribution

Aizawl : On December 5, 2024, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, Government of India, launched the Anna Chakra platform, a route optimization tool designed to improve the efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the Public Distribution System (PDS) supply chain. During the platform’s launch, Mizoram was recognized as one of the most proactive and efficient states in implementing route optimization measures across India. The Mizoram government received the “Commendation for Successful Implementation of PDS Supply Chain Optimization” award as part of this initiative.

The Union Minister of Food & Public Distribution explained that Anna Chakra, developed collaboratively by the Department of Food & Public Distribution and the World Food Programme (WFP), has already been adopted by 30 states across the country. Mizoram’s proactive steps in adopting this tool were highlighted as a model for effective supply chain management.

The award was received on behalf of the Mizoram Government by Pu Alexander V. Chongthu, Additional Residential Commissioner, New Delhi, from the Union Minister of Food and Public Distribution, Shri Pralhad Joshi.

Anna Chakra is projected to save approximately ₹250 crore annually by reducing transportation costs nationwide. Alongside this, the SCAN portal (Subsidy Claim Application for NFSA) was also launched during the event to streamline subsidy claims under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
