PM KUSUM Scheme Gaining Momentum in the State—15 Solar Plants with a Total Capacity of 42 Megawatts Established in Two Months

Jaipur – The implementation of the PM Kusum Scheme is gaining momentum at the ground level in the state. Under Component-C of the scheme, two solar plants were established together on Thursday in the Bansur sub-division area of the Behror-Kotputli district. These two plants, with a total capacity of 5.26 megawatts, will provide electricity to 547 farmers connected to the Balawas and Bhupsera grid substations, enabling them to use electricity for agricultural work during the day.

It is noteworthy that in the past two months, 15 plants with a total capacity of 42 megawatts have been installed in Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam under Component-C of the Kusum Scheme. Of these, the Kotputli circle has the highest number with 7 plants, followed by 5 in the Bhiwadi circle, and one solar power plant each in Jaipur District North, Jaipur District South, and Jhalawar circle, where electricity generation has commenced.

Under Component-C, Jaipur Discom has so far installed a total of 20 solar plants with a combined capacity of 52.63 megawatts, which provide daytime electricity to 5,575 farmers for agricultural purposes. Furthermore, including Ajmer and Jodhpur Discoms, a total of 31 plants with a capacity of 80.89 megawatts have been installed across the three Discoms, benefiting 7,813 farmers who now have access to daytime electricity for farming.

It is important to note that after awarding the scheme, the process of finalizing the power purchase agreements, setting up transmission lines, installing meters, and obtaining other necessary approvals is being carried out within the stipulated time frame.

To expedite the Kusum Scheme, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was initiated about a month and a half ago. Under this SOP, applications for establishing solar power plants under Components A and C are being processed in an organized and expedited manner at the Discom level. Approvals for 11 kV and 33 kV lines for evacuating solar power, connecting LT, 11 kV, and 33 kV lines to the proposed land for the plants, and other procedures are being streamlined with time limits set for engineers at various levels. This SOP is making it easier to establish solar plants while also resolving issues faced by solar power generators.
