Maharashtra’s Economy to Become a Trillion Dollar Economy – CM Devendra Fadnavis Inauguration of World Hindu Economic Conference
Mumbai : The state of Maharashtra is implementing various development policies to make it the most developed state in the country. We are set to make Maharashtra’s economy a trillion-dollar economy. Last year, the state crossed the half-trillion-dollar target. Now, we are confident of achieving the trillion-dollar economy goal by 2028 to 2030, expressed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the World Hindu Economic Conference, which is being held from December 13 to 15, 2024, at the Jio World Convention Center, BKC, Bandra.
During the event, MLA Mangalprabhat Lodha, World Hindu Economic Forum founder Swami Vidyanand, President Rajesh Sharma, keynote speaker Padma Shri T.V. Mohandas Pai, and Joint Secretary Shailesh Trivedi, along with several prominent figures from various fields across the globe, were present.
Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that Mumbai is the economic capital of the country and will soon become the fintech capital. The World Hindu Economic Conference has presented various concepts based on India’s culture and the principles of development in different sectors. There is a fundamental difference between Western and our culture. In Western culture, only the capable can develop, while in our culture, every person born has the right and opportunity to develop.
India’s remarkable progress has amazed the world. India, progressing at the fastest rate, is emerging as the third major power globally. People across the world questioned how a country with such a large population could progress. However, the skilled workforce in India is the key to development, and we are bringing everyone along in this growth journey, Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized.
Maharashtra is progressing rapidly. A consultant committee has been established to make Maharashtra the most developed state in the country, and through this, strategies are being devised for its development by studying the sectors where Maharashtra can progress further. At a global level, Maharashtra is building a complementary development chain. This includes the state government’s efforts in logistics policies and building the most dynamic road network. The Nagpur–Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway, which is 700 kilometers long and connects 16 districts, directly links to the JNPT port, creating an excellent supply chain. The state government is focusing on enhancing infrastructure, including roads, air transport, and port development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to make Maharashtra a maritime power, and under his leadership, since 2014, the country has been accelerating infrastructure development, the Chief Minister added.
Prime Minister Modi has introduced new policies to accelerate the country’s development. In the past ten years, India has lifted 250 million people out of poverty. By 2030, India aims to become a 5 trillion-dollar economy, and we plan to achieve this target by 2028. Surveys suggest that through global economic institutions, India can even aim for a 7 trillion or 9 trillion-dollar economy. For this, emphasis is being laid on technology-driven development. According to the national development survey of 2020, Maharashtra leads the country in groundwater levels. The state also has a higher forest cover. Through green energy projects and river linking initiatives, the state government is focusing on sustainable development, the Chief Minister said.
Keynote speaker Padma Shri T.V. Mohandas Pai remarked that the available human resources in the country are the backbone of its development. A developed India is the country’s future. Indian culture is a concept that needs to be taken forward globally. It is essential to provide young people with quality education, focus on health, education, digital technology, and women’s empowerment. Shri Pai outlined the important aspects required to make India a major economic power in the world.
