Mumbai : The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, through the Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission, is implementing the Maharashtra State Rural Development Campaign to organize rural women through self-help groups and help them develop individually, socially, and economically. As part of this initiative, women are provided with skill and industry-oriented training. To bring the products produced by these women to the market, the ‘Mahalakshmi Saras Sales and Exhibition – 2024’ has been organized at the CIDCO Exhibition Center, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, from December 14 to 25.
UMED – Through the Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission, millions of women are emerging as empowered entrepreneurs, producing a variety of products. To ensure these products reach the corners of the country and receive more recognition and market access, the ‘Mahalakshmi Saras Sales and Exhibition’ is held annually. So far, it has been organized in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Nagpur. The exhibition receives an excellent response from citizens every year.
This is the second year of the ‘Mahalakshmi Saras’ in Navi Mumbai. Approximately 375 stalls from Maharashtra and around 100 stalls from other states will be set up at the exhibition. Additionally, there will be a grand ‘Food Court’ with 75 stalls offering delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
The exhibition will showcase various handicrafts, handloom products, wooden crafts, Banjara Art, Warli Art, and various types of jewelry that attract women, as well as wooden toys for children and rare items from other states. This exhibition will offer an insight into rural culture for urban citizens. Visitors will get to experience the flavors of the entire state in one place. To cater to families visiting with children, a play area has been set up for the little ones. Additionally, an experiential center will be present at the exhibition.
In order to establish a tradition of the Mahalakshmi Saras exhibition in the Navi Mumbai area as well, this grand exhibition is being organized for the second consecutive year in Vashi. This exhibition will help significantly boost sales and support the efforts and enterprises of rural women. The Chief Executive Officer of the UMED Mission, Ruchesh Jaywanshi, has urged everyone to visit the exhibition.
