Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe Reviews Preparations for the Session

Inspects Both Houses and Issues Instructions to Officials Regarding Arrangements

Nagpur : The winter session of the Maharashtra Legislature is set to commence on Monday, December 16. In this regard, Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council, Dr. Neelam Gorhe, reviewed the preparations and directed authorities to ensure there are no inconveniences during the session.

At a meeting held in the Legislative Council’s ministerial hall, the review was attended by Legislative Secretariat officials including Jitendra Bhole and V.G. Athawale, Additional Commissioner of Revenue Department Rajalakshmi Shah, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kulkarni, Additional District Collector Tushar Thombre, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Shweta Khedkar, along with senior officers from various departments such as legislature, revenue, energy, construction, transport, telecommunications, health, government printing press, and food and drug administration.


Instructions for Efficient Arrangements

Dr. Gorhe emphasized that there should be no inconvenience during the session. Essential facilities for ministers, MLAs, visiting officials, and staff from other departments must be made available promptly. She expressed confidence that, as with previous years, this year’s planning will also be effective.

To ensure uninterrupted power supply, testing of electricity connections across all buildings related to the session has been conducted. Special personnel have been deployed, and backup arrangements, such as generators, have been installed. Seven parking slots have been created within the legislative complex, with an organized system in place. A “Hirkani Kendra” has been set up inside the Legislative Assembly building, and additional facilities have been established at the MLA quarters.

Telecommunication and Wi-Fi connections have been provided in all relevant locations. So far, 884 vehicles have been arranged, with provisions for additional vehicles if required. Police security has been deployed inside and outside the Legislative Assembly premises, as well as at Nag Bhavan, Ravi Bhavan, and MLA quarters. Visitors meeting VIPs will be granted entry only upon obtaining passes, as per the police department’s guidelines.


Accommodation and Cleanliness Measures

Accommodation arrangements have been made at 38 designated locations in the city. Repairs and painting have been completed at all these places. The municipal corporation will provide water supply, sanitation, and fire safety services. Special cleanliness teams and rapid response squads have been deployed to ensure hygiene.

Five health centers have been established at the Legislative Assembly and other key locations. These centers will have medical officers, necessary personnel, medicines, and ambulances available. Fire audits of the Legislative Assembly and related buildings have also been completed.


Inspection of Both Houses by the Deputy Chairperson

Before the meeting, Dr. Neelam Gorhe inspected both the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly chambers. She reviewed the paperless system introduced for members to conduct legislative proceedings and discussed arrangements with the concerned authorities.

She confirmed that both houses are prepared for the session and also visited party offices within the legislative complex to inspect the facilities and ensure readiness.
