Mahakumbhnagar : With less than a month remaining for the grand Mahakumbh, preparations for this mega event are in full swing. In alignment with the Yogi government’s vision, all pending works will be expedited through departmental coordination. Ahead of CM Yogi Adityanath’s visit on Monday, a review meeting was held on Sunday at the ICCC auditorium of the Fair Authority, chaired by the Principal Secretary of Urban Development, the Principal Secretary of PWD, and the ADG of Prayagraj. Officials were instructed to accelerate work to ensure all facilities for pilgrims are ready well in advance.

Principal Secretary of PWD, Ajay Chauhan, stated that work on the pontoon bridges is progressing rapidly. Night shifts are being deployed to ensure work is completed at a war footing, and all pontoon bridges will be operational within a day or two. Additionally, 100 signboards are being installed daily, and this task will be completed by the end of the month. Checkered plates are being laid in all parking areas, and employees were directed to expedite these works for timely completion.

Principal Secretary of Urban Development, Amrit Abhijat, emphasized that Mahakumbh is not just a major event for Prayagraj but for the entire state. He directed regular water sprinkling on all roads to ensure pilgrims and saints face no inconvenience. GPS trackers should be installed in water tankers for monitoring, and drones should be used for oversight. He also stressed teamwork between PWD and municipal teams to ensure faster progress on pending works. Beautification efforts in the city and the fair area are ongoing, and their maintenance during the Mahakumbh will require increased speed. So far, 153 out of 200 water ATMs have been installed, and Jal Nigam has been tasked with completing all arrangements in all 25 sectors within a week.

ADG Bhanu Bhaskar shared updates on traffic arrangements, highlighting special parking provisions for this Mahakumbh. Unique traffic arrangements have been made for the royal bathing festivals. Routes for all holding areas and shuttle buses have been finalized, along with an emergency plan. Separate arrangements for health, fire, and water police have been made, and four hospitals in the district have been directed to remain prepared for emergencies. Major parking sites will have barriers, and areas like Varanasi, Jaunpur Road, and Ayodhya are expected to witness heavy crowds, necessitating additional preparations. Parking facilities have been set up near Saraswati Hightech on Mirzapur Road, while holding areas have been designated at Chheoki, Jhunsi, Prayag, and Phaphamau stations.

Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant instructed expediting the installation of checkered plates and ensuring continuous monitoring of their proper placement throughout the fair area. Fair Authority Officer Vijay Kiran Anand shared that crowd management arrangements have been made at Prayag and Subedar Ganj stations. Bathing ghats have been developed near the stations to ensure no inconvenience for pilgrims during the Mahakumbh. He added that the constructed ROBs and underpasses will be game changers for the event. Officials have been deployed at all major stations, and separate entry and exit routes have been designated for key bathing days. Efforts will also be made to increase awareness using print, digital, and social media platforms.
