‘CCMP’-Qualified Homeopathy Practitioners Permitted to Practice Allopathy
Mumbai : Registered homeopathy medical practitioners who have completed the Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (CCMP) are now permitted to practice modern medicine (allopathy), according to the announcement by Rajesh Narvekar, Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Eligible practitioners must be registered under the Maharashtra Homoeopathic Practitioners Act and should have successfully completed the government-approved Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (CCMP).
Retail and wholesale drug sellers can sell allopathic medicines to registered homeopathy doctors who have completed the CCMP. Additionally, retail drug sellers may dispense medicines based on prescriptions provided by these qualified doctors.
However, before selling medicines based on prescriptions issued by Maharashtra’s registered homeopathy practitioners, drug retailers must verify:
- The registration number of the practitioner, and
- The certification number of the CCMP qualification mentioned in the prescription.
The responsibility of ensuring these verifications lies solely with the retail drug sellers, as highlighted by FDA Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar.
