The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin, will inaugurate the expansion of the Pudhumai Penn Scheme on December 30, 2024, in Thoothukudi. Under this scheme, monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 will be provided to 75,028 female students studying in government-aided schools.
Additionally, the Chief Minister will inaugurate a Mini Industrial Park, constructed over 63,000 square feet, featuring four buildings. Since assuming office in 2021, Mr. Stalin has implemented several progressive initiatives aimed at Tamil Nadu’s development, with a special focus on women’s empowerment. These initiatives include:
- Free bus travel for women.
- The Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam, providing ₹1,000 monthly financial aid to homemakers.
- The Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme, which supports girls from government schools pursuing higher education.
Launched on September 5, 2022, the Pudhumai Penn Scheme initially benefited girls studying from Class 6 to Class 12 in government schools. The financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month is directly credited to their bank accounts, encouraging higher education and reducing financial burdens on families. Over 4.25 lakh students have benefited from this initiative, which has now been extended to students in government-aided schools.
As part of industrial development, the Chief Minister continues to attract investments in Tamil Nadu, bringing ₹10 lakh crore in investments and creating employment opportunities for approximately 31 lakh youth. Notably, the Mini Industrial Park in Thoothukudi will feature modern facilities like parking, dining, a gym, and renewable energy systems. Built at a cost of ₹32.5 crore, this park will provide employment opportunities for thousands of youth.
The Thoothukudi visit by the Chief Minister highlights the state’s commitment to advancing education and industrial growth, ensuring progress for the people of the region.
