Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Inaugurates Chennai Flower Show at Semmozhi Poonga
Chennai : Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M.K. Stalin, inaugurated the Chennai Flower Show organized at Semmozhi Poonga under the Foreign and Domestic Welfare Scheme.
The Chief Minister initiated the event today (2.1.2025) as part of the Chennai Flower Show, held annually to showcase floral arrangements and encourage tourism. Starting in 2022, the flower show has been conducted at Semmozhi Poonga, highlighting native and exotic plants. Visitors from across the region, including foreign and domestic tourists, participate in the event, which features a variety of flowers, vegetables, and cultural exhibits.
Past Events and Participation:
- First Show (2022): Conducted from 3rd to 5th June at Kalaivanar Arangam, attracting 44,888 visitors.
- Second Show (2023): Held at Semmozhi Poonga, from 3rd to 5th June, with 23,302 attendees.
- Third Show (2024): Organized from 10th to 20th February at Semmozhi Poonga, showcasing 50+ varieties of plants and decorations. It was visited by 1,09,027 people, coinciding with the centenary celebrations of horticulture.
Fourth Edition (2025):
The current flower show, running from January 2 to January 18, includes over 50 varieties of flowers such as marigolds, dahlias, and orchids. Themed displays such as butterflies, trains, and ships enhance the ambiance. Advanced tickets are available online at https://tnhorticulture.in/spetickets/.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including:
- Hon’ble Minister for Water Resources, Thiru. Duraimurugan
- Hon’ble Minister for Welfare and Agriculture, Thiru. M.R.K. Panneerselvam
- Other state officials, including MPs and MLAs, as well as senior government representatives.
The Chief Minister participated in a group photo with officials and inspected various attractions at the event.
